What I expected when I wandered into Whisky Throttle was your average small-town bar: a few beers, maybe some sports on TV, perhaps a grizzled local or two talking about carburetors. What I received, however, was a transcendent culinary experience that left me weeping softly into a wet nap and whispering “thank you” to the poultry.
The wings. Dear heavens, the wings.
Smoked to perfection—not fried, not baked, but lovingly caressed by fragrant smoke like the embrace of an Appalachian wood sprite—these ten golden beauties came tossed in a Whisky Thai sauce so divine it felt like a handshake between Tennessee and Bangkok. Sticky, spicy, sweet, smoky: each bite a spiritual encounter. These weren’t just wings. These were a saga told through meat.
The blue cheese was thick and tangy, the celery crisp like a palate-cleanser sent by angels. I consumed the entire tray in my truck, a ceremony performed with greasy reverence and not a single regret. The aftermath? A belly full of smoked thunder, a heart full of joy.
The atmosphere inside Whisky Throttle? A strange and perfect harmony. Neon glow, racing on TV, classic bar setup—but beneath it all, a gentle undercurrent of “yeah, we know the wings are stupid good.” I sat, surrounded by liquor and legends, feeling as though I had stumbled into a roadside Valhalla where warriors feast on drumettes instead of roast boar.
Would I return? I’d ride a unicycle backwards through a hailstorm for another tray of those wings. Five stars. Zero doubts. Long live...
Read moreThere were twelve of us that went to dinner. I would have gave it five stars except my son’s food came out 10 minutes after everyone else’s and they didn’t serve coffee. Other than that everything was great. Nothing fancy, just a quaint little place with good food.
The waitress was friendly and very helpful. She was also very understanding when it came to indecisive little ones. She gave us refills when our glasses were empty and picked up our plates right away. For service, I give her 5 stars.
My husband had the pulled pork platter with tater tots and macaroni and cheese. He said the pulled pork was amazing and that there was a lot of food. The helping of tater tots he had was huge. He couldn’t eat all of his food.
One of my boys had a cheeseburger and fries. He said it was good and the burger wasn’t dry. Two of my boys had a brisket sandwiches. One had fries and the other had macaroni and cheese. The brisket had a lot of pepper, but it was very good. One of my girls had chicken tenders and a double helping of fries. She said the tenders were ok, kind of dry, but the fries were good.
I had a loaded baked potato with pulled pork and barbecue sauce, cheese, and sour cream. It was very good. I order pulled pork stuffed potatoes at every place that offers them. I take it the pulled pork wasn’t smoker, it wasn’t smokey at all, but it was still nice and juicy.
Overall, this is a nice little restaurant...
Read moreLove the fried green tomatoes. I feel I could eat my weight in them. Whoever made the batter did a wonderful job. I never eat the barbecue. I go for the fried green tomatoes. This is the first place I never peeled off the batter. But I visited for the first time in months, and someone has changed the recipe. When I started coming 11 mths ago, I would make my rounds . And order 4 orders of tomatoes. Whoever you were 11 mths ago, please come back. And show them the thickness and spices and seasonings you put into it, please 🙏 . I really miss whoever you are . You all came in first place with one of my favorite foods. I'm the type if I see it I like it and I buy it. I would sit at the bar and drink until it was done cooking. Until my mom started making me call my order in. The atmosphere is laid-back biker, and those types of ppl are very interesting to me. There was a mistake on my recent order . I called and had my issues noted, and the staff was so helpful in correcting it . He called me personally and asked if I would come back and he would make my meal for free . From my 3 orders of tomatoes and my moms barbecue plate . I may do a what's up bust up and see if the cooks have taken his words into consideration. I don't like pre-planned meals. I want everyone to have the same enthusiasm the first time walking in. And the next time you return. I want ppl from all over to come to our small town and...
