The place is pleasantly presentable. However, our particular waitress was not attentive. My niece tried to approach her 2x about things and was left with the word in her mouth.

The food, to us, was pretty looking but not of authentic Mexican flavor. More tomato base salsas and seasonings than the usual diverse flavors of chile.

As some one that's big on authentic Mexican cuisine, I'll say that they've tweaked the flavors and lost the essence. However, I hear that the evening cuisine is better. (It should be consistent though.)

Once the food was served, she disappeared and we could hear the staff talking and laughing while we were waiting for her to reappear. There were no other customers at the time so I feel that there was no need for the lack of good service.

Twenty minutes later, she shows up to ask if we needed boxes. It's one of few times I try a place and leave most of the food and not take leftover. It was my first time... most likely my last. Ended up the rest of the day with sour...

One of the only places serving dine-in currently

My girlfriend and I went Saturday night around 5pm. We were seated in a small room, with no music. no social distancing what so ever. None of the staff were wearing face masks, It was very uncomfortable setting, just very awkward The food was mediocre at best, i had the quesadilla fajitas, hardly any toppings, one slice of tomato that looked yellow... some store bought looking lettuce and alittle bit of sour cream. I dk if there was any cheese in it, the steak tasted like rubber. My girlfriend got the fajitas and again steak had no flavor, small, not sure what part of the animal the steak came from, I dk... I got steak tacos Togo for my daughter at home, when ordering the waiter didn’t ask any info, and walked away. My daughter barely ate one of the 3 tacos Many of the Mexican restaurants in the area much better food and atmosphere- can’t compare with El Mariachi!!

Don’t waste your time here, go...

Ordered at 530 was told to pick up at 6. Still currently waiting, it's 645, with no estimate of when my food will actually be done. Many others waiting I'm the same situation. You shouldn't have someone answering the phone that doesn't know the actual wait time?? Ridiculous! I will NOT be back and will not recommend. UPDATE he told us only 2 more mins. That was 10 mins ago. We have now been waiting an hour and a half for tacos. Horrible customer service!! The male employee walked away MULTIPLE TIMES when we asked how much longer the wait would be . When the food came out at 645 finally. They were missing more than half of our order. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. This place is garbage with garbage. Finally were able to leave with our entire order at 7 pm an hour and a half after we were...

I rate Mexican restaurants all over the country, so I get technical. Short answer on Playa Vallarta is: lovely place, great service, great food. Took only 15 minutes for food to arrive on a busy Fri. night. Very tasty. Technicalities are: (1) chips and salsa are good but not "great" (can't tell if chips are freshly made on-site; they didn't seem that fresh. Salsa was cold as if from a fridge; not bad, but the "best" are freshly made and served at room temp). (2) Decor is nice, but not mexican style (except for a few sombreros). (3) The hard floor is pretty, but makes the place a little loud from voices. Don"t let the technicalities keep you away. Lovely place on the golf course with great food and great service.

The chips n salsa lacked any sort of flavor and was just water. The nachos came with a thin, watery white sauce that added nothing, but made everything wet immediately. The meat itself tasted blander than the stuff I make at home with a seasoning packet. The burrito de la mesa had a lot of wet lettuce and large chunks of tomato thrown haphazardly on top. I'm not sure which sauce it was, but there was a lot of wetness on the plate- specifically by the beans and sour cream. There was no heat and not nearly enough flavor. The parrillada burrito also had no flavor nor spice. Even though it has "chipotle sauce" coated on it. Better options in Jefferson county, let alone in Jefferson. Pick somewhere else to go.
