I don't want to make this a running discourse, but do want thank mgmt for the quick and caring response to my complaint. I can appreciate that it's hard to maintain the quality of beef when you are at the mercy of a trusted supplier. We will plan a return trip soon. Thanks for your continuing effort.
Updated review. It's me again. Glitches happen. I hope this occasion was one. I'm used to getting tender steaks here with that great, seared in flavor. Perhaps I've been spoiled into expecting that level of quality, but the three rib eyes we ordered on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 were all very much on the tough side, difficult to cut even with the provided steak knives. When I mentioned to the manager who stopped by the table that mine was tough and my two steak eating companions then chimed in that theirs were tough as well, he offered to replace mine, which I refused, saying that if three of them were that way, any replacement would also likely be that way. I thanked him for the offer but told him that I just thought he should know, so he could quality check his supply. We all powered through the rest of our steaks, which were tasty though very tough, but I actually left part of mine, an unheard of move. My wife's sirloin, a cut not known for tenderness, was actually much more tender than our ribeyes. I'll vote with my feet, staying away a good while, with the hope that what is surely a supply quality problem gets sorted out in the meantime.
Original review, 4 years ago:
They've got the right balance between high quality food and presentation along with a nice casual atmosphere. Pleasant music at an unobtrusive volume. I can recommend the Demonico steak, a truly premium slice of the rib loin which came nicely finished at medium when I requested medium rare. A light seasoning had been added and was pleasant. The bread served was terrific. Nicely chewy like ciabatta. A minor gripe I'm going to whine about more than it's worth: Fake butter with very high garlic content mixed in. A shame to have to put fake butter on good bread. It was also overwhelmingly garlicy. This bread cries out for genuine cow's butter with only salt added for taste, no garlic, please. I'd give an extra star just for that, but I already gave 5 ☆s. Suggestion: offer a choice of fresh, real butter either sweet or with salt only, but I can always salt it...
Read moreArrived for a late lunch around 3 p.m. We were asked if we had a reservation, for which we did not, seated us in the bar area. Keep in mind many tables were empty seeing it was not a busy time of the day. Table wobbled until we put coasters under it to keep it steady. Got our drinks and 10 minutes later asked if we wanted an appetizer. We ordered the mussels. Some time later our order was taken and not long after that our appetizer arrived. The mussels have an amazing flavor however; why send out 8 unopened mussels? Generally when they don't open they are bad and we arent able to eat them. I ordered smothered chicken, salad and creamed Spinach, and my husband ordered the bacon wrapped tenderloin, salad, and macaroni and cheese. The tenderloin was great and so was the chicken. The creamed Spinach was fair but not seasoned at all. My husband had to ask for more beverages. The table behind us ordered after us but received their entrees first. No one asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. Flagged the server/bartender down so my husband could get a box for his leftovers, I was still eating at the time. When I finished up flagged down another server to get a box for mine at that point the server/bartender brought our check without even asking if we were ready or needed anything. During our dining some other patrons did arrive and it was obvious they were regulars. It was not busy the workers were holding a patrons baby and 4 or 5 were gathered around the host post at the front door talking when we left. You may gain more regular customers if you are more attentive and personable instead of making customers feeling like they are bothering you or a hassle. Some updates to the building inside may help the feel also. We dine out a couple times per week and have no problem paying for a great meal and experience. We always tip generously, today we did not. The tip was what I feel was earned with the effort we received. We will not be...
Read moreMy family of three went to Cast Iron on Friday for the first time. I have heard of this restaurant for years and have wanted to try it for a long time. I called early afternoon and got a reservation for that night. Very easy to do. When we arrived we were able to find a parking space but I believe later in the night, that might be a difficult task as they have a very small lot. First of all, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and always checking on us. So, why the 3 stars? It was the food I am afraid. We began the meal with their queso dip and chips. Nothing bad about them, just very bland. We were then given a basket of bread. When we pulled back the napkin cover, there were 2 hairs attached to the bread/cover. We immediately showed them to the waitress, she apologized and brought us more. My husband and I ordered the fillet mignon and my son ordered their Delmonico steak. My son said his steak was "fine" but both of the mignons were over cooked, dry and had no seasoning. I guess we could have sent them back but at that point, we didn't want to have to wait any longer. I will say that the people at the table next to us also said their steaks were dry and overcooked and they did send their steaks back. My husband also ordered their giant potato cake and he said it was not good (took 2 bites). I ordered a baked potato and brussel sprouts; both were good. Cost of meal with tip was $130. The food was not bad, it just was underwhelming and bland. A manager never stopped by the table to check on how service was going/how the food was, etc. Perhaps we just picked the wrong night, or the wrong food and some of their other offerings are better but I really don't want to spend another $130 to find out it...
