Worst restaurant experience ever. Being a restaurant manager you notice things, especially when it comes to food and safety. The very first thing I noticed on a rainy night walking into this restaurant was there was no mat for wiping feet off. So my first impression of this place was, management doesn't care about thier guests, and boy was I right. Then I noticed the staff not wearing slip resistant shoes. I also notice the manager not wearing gloves while at preparing food. Service: was sub par being a slow Thursday evening. But for a small town restaurant, guest service should be everything, greets hit, drinks refilled, basically you shouldn't have to ask for a thing especially when you rely on a community to keep you a float. The food: In past ventures to this establishment, food looked and tasted terrible, I mean Taco Bell had better Mexican food. But, me getting over the flu and not having a voice, I wanted some chicken wings and fries. I will say this. They came out looking good. But as a previous kitchen manager/chef. If you have a chicken, that still has a smell after it is fried, chances are it is no good. Having had a touch of salmonella before, I didn't want to chance it, so I politely told the waitress, that I no longer wanted them. Food gets a 5/10, they looked good, as far as being in date, this establishment on the DHEC website are repeat offenders on getting caught with out of date food on their line. Manger visit/resolve: 0/10. So after the complaint was made, the manager comes over and says verbatim, quite sarcastically I might add "what's wrong buddy, I just had 2 of your wings and they were fantastic." So I explained my findings, and then he hit me back with, "can I get you chicken fingers?" And I said no. Rest of the dinner was ok. Before we get the bill, the manager and the other servers were cutting up, which is expected, however they were getting there jokes from us because of our bill. The reason I say this is because of guest perception. We get the bill and he has only taken 50% of wings. So my first thought was that I was paying for the 2 wings that he ate in the back, then later found out via Facebook that the employees enjoyed them. So again, the manager comes back over, we explained in a calm polite manner that we were not paying for something we didn't eat. Then we were told that every time, we come in there is an issue and that we were welcome back in. So I'm sitting there thinking my one visit I've had in 6 months counts as every time I guess. So the manger heads over to the register, and continues his rudeness while my brother and father pay the bill, I walk out with my mother and laugh about the situation. One because it is something as a restaurant manger you want to do but because of professionalism you don't. He then proceeds to follow my family and me. And that's were lines are cross. It was the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen, even as a restaurant manager myself. This place is a joke. PS. The shelf life for "fresh" chicken...
Read moreHeard this restaurant had OK food. Been coming to Johnsonville for over 20 years and was excited to go there. Did not try the food. The hostess kept sitting her friends in lieu of the people who came in and checked in. Apparently checking in is in her head. Brought it to her attention and she immediately brushed us off and sat other people who apologized for going before us. Talked to the so called manager on duty and she cared as little as the hostess. She said Andrew Hall was the manager and was not available but he would do no different. Wow, I’ve seen a lot of places come and go but even great food can’t keep a place open with employees like this place has. Will never go there again. We spend a good amount of money in this area and was excited. It is a shame that Mr. Hall has employees with suck...
Read moreBecause I work in the food service industry, I know this hurts the management to read this, but I hold no ill will to this restaurant only very disappointed in my take out meal today. I ordered Mariscos con Arroz and Jalapeno Skins. The "jalapeno skins" only had like three or four 1/4" jalapeno rings in them instead of what they originally started out with which was two or three jalapeno halves cut into strips, and my "shredded chicken" was still mostly whole. On my last bite of my Mariscos meal, I bit into some type of shell and had to spit my food back into my to go box. Not what I...
