Pico de Gallo - Johnston
** Update - owner replied only with “..” What does this mean? I find it a little odd that this place only has 4-5 star reviews aside from mine, considering the same review that I left on Facebook last night got an insane amount of negative comments about the place, including roaches. Is he having the negative reviews removed by Google for a fee?
Do not be deceived by the picture. Looks delish, right? Absolutely not.
Salsa tasted like it came from a jar. Too much tomato, not enough cilantro and other spices
Queso - ok, not nearly as good as Pancheros.
Chips - meh - heard from An employee that they actually REUSE chips from previous tables! Someone call the health department, STAT!
Rice - just gross. Worse than Spanish rice from a box.
Beans - tasted like they came from a can.
Fajita Quesadilla at the bottom of the picture - very salty. The red piece you see on the right of the plate? The chicken. No idea what it was even marinated in, but not good.
Burrito with Chicken - in front of the hubby - ok, nothing to write home about. Very salty.
California Burrito with Steak- not pictured, ordered for our son to go. It was ginormous, but not even put together. Completely fell apart, and spilled out everywhere. He said is was kinda bad. Steak was extremely salty.
Meal was not worth it for the price of $50 without tip. Would have been if it tasted remotely good, and we even got the queso for free with a coupon.
As we sat there, several groups came in, and had to wait a long time to be seated because staff had disappeared for long periods of time.
We only tried this place because we’ve been flooded with mail and door-to-door coupons. Now I can see why, they are desperate for business.
We’ll be going back to our regular standby, which is Amigo in Johnston, off the 86th St exit. Absolutely delicious, and...
Read moreWe live pretty close to the restaurant and always enjoyed going there before. The remodel is nice it’s very bright and airy. Service was great, food so so. I ordered cheese dip which was disappointing. To be fair I do not like jalapeños which it seemed to have a very strong jalapeño taste, the version I am used to uses green chilies, which I do not care for either if they use too much. This version had both in it and it overpowered the cheese which I really like. I also had shrimp tacos with their version of cold slaw and chipotle sauce, the dish included rice and beans. Rice was cold, beans were like soup could not eat them with a fork you needed a spoon. Luckily I asked for the coleslaw on the side, I could not eat it. The shrimp itself was wonderful, what ever they sautéed it in was very good, chipotle sauce was decent too. I had a regular margarita which was pretty good. The prices are very reasonable. We will probably give them a couple months and then...
Read more23MARCH2024. I came to visit this restaurant with friends and have a good time but unfortunately, this restaurant was a let down. I ordered a Birria burrito from this restaurant but was very disappointed. It tasted like days old food that was microwaved but even worse! I cannot explain exactly what it tasted like but trust me it is NOT authentic at all as I have had Birria plenty of times. The refried beans were also disgusting I didn’t even take 2 bites of each section of my plate it was simply horrible. I even had two of my friends try my meal and they also agreed that the food was disgusting taste wise. This did not feel Mexican authentic AT ALL as I am an authentic Mexican having had this simple meal plenty of times. What a disappointment and I will never recommend this meal to anyone. Also, if you’re wondering, I did not get my money back for this meal just a simple apology after only taking a total of 3 bites from this meal. Also, Alondra was a...
