I grew up with Casa Montez, here in Joplin, Mo. Way back when the Montez' familia had it. ,💖 Kudos, for coming back, I missed ya! They have always had great food and wonderful atmosphere, so when I gave three stars for atmosphere, I am not knocking them. I personally, am just not one for small spaces. (It's the old Eagle Drive-in) Definitely, have the cheese dip, chili relleno and one of the premium margaritas. I promise you will not be disappointed! 🤗💞

Not authentic Mexican food, more like AmeriMex or Texmex food; everything is loaded with melted cheese and made with flour which is a bit unhealthy, something you will rarely see in Mexican cuisine. Nevertheless, the food had good flavor, but too hearty for my preference. Great service and atmosphere. Had the chicken enchiladas.

Delicious!! Wish there 2 tacos instead of one on the lunch menu 😕 The chips and salsa were sooo good, the waitress brings more without having to ask for more! Small place on the outside with big flavors inside...and great service!!

If you like American style Mexican food this is ur place, if u like un seasoned food this is ur place. Stay clear other wise, unfortunately was my first trip here not impressed waiter was nice hostess was nice. Ordered my food got cheese dip first it was actually chili von queso they made with Velveeta and peppers, oinioin, and ground beef not the standard cheese dip (it was gross) then my fajita quesidilla came out with just plain cut up chicken (not fajita meat) no seasoning and Monterey jack cheese not good, very bland. The waiter forgot the beans and rice had to go get them took about 5 minutes they also were very bland. Mind u I only took 1 bite of each item, I did however drink my entire drink. When the waiter came back I just asked for the check obviously nothing was eaten he asked what the problem was and I explained all the above not what I was expecting, he apologized and said ok I'll be right back with ur check comes back with a discount price ( only $2 off) and says I talked to my manager and this is what I can do, I said ok can I speak to her ok no prob. Manager comes over body language very hostile and says very rudely WE HAVE BEEN OPEN FOR 45YRS AND NO ONE HAS EVER SAID OUR FOOD IS NOT GOOD. I responded, sorry I'm not from here it's my first time here it's just not what I expected so I didn't even eat the food. Her response was, OH MY GOD JUST PAY FOR UR DRINK AND LEAVE I HAVE Never WENT TO A RESTAURANT AND ORDERED FOOD AND COMPLAINED ABOUT IT JUST SO I DON'T HAVE TO PAY,as she's walking away shouting at me to just leave with several people there. This lady needs to learn customer service etiquette or don't work in customer service. I would like a response from the restaurant the lady was medium height, medium built, short BLK hair, mid 40s no name...

You would be better off buying a Mexican TV dinner. Not even the scallions in the cheese dip could save it from tasting like a cheap yellow cheese queso knock-off, and I love me some scallions. I ordered a burrito ala carte and asked for pork, and the waiter comes back to inform me that it would be an extra $5 to change from beef or chicken to pork...the burrito is $3.50. They want $8.50 to change to pork? I can change to pork at Los Lunas for NO extra charge. The salsa was terrible, and the "spicy" salsa was neither spicy nor any better. The chips were tasteless.

Whatever red sauce/cheese mixture they slopped over both the chimichanga and the burrito tasted like something that came out of a can. I ordered a side of grilled peppers and onions, and they came out slimy, barely cooked, and even COLD in some parts. You could see that the vegetables were just dropped onto a grill and then scooped up without ever being turned, let alone seasoned, because one part of the pepper had a grill mark and the other part was COMPLETELY uncooked.

My wife ordered steak fajitas which turned out to be slop. The steak was the lowest quality imaginable, it was not seasoned, and it came with the same quality of peppers and onions that is aforementioned. The rice was the only decent food item we ate out of our entire order.

And apparently, black pepper is too expensive to keep on the tables because you have to ask for it... The tea tasted old, and the soda tasted watered down, as if the syrup on the fountain is turned down. Service was slow, although friendly, and it took nearly 10 minutes for us to pay our bill before we could get the h*ll out of...

Writing this as we r pulling away from the parking lot. We decided to have a late family dinner— decided to head to Casa. Ate here 1000 times or more.. and over the years it slowly declines. But tonight was terrible!!! We waiting over 5 mins at the door to get seated.. and it was 9pm at night— so they weren’t busy or anything.. got seated—took another 5 mins to get our server Maribel— over to greet us to get our drinks— got our drinks— then took our order. Got cheese and guac dip too— took over 7mins for that to come to table— then TOOK FOREVER to get our food.. over 30 mins!!! And remind you, it’s late— so it’s not dinner rush time or anything. When we got our food— my order was wrong. I ALWAYS order a chicken Chimichanga— she brought me a beef chimichanga— and then argued with me saying that I ordered beef— NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I ORDERED BEEF!!!!!!!! Took another 15 mins to get my replacement— by the time that I got my food— my family was done eating. So I ate a few bites and then ask for a box. Then we got the ticket— my husband asked for queso on his tamales instead of red sauce. She did tell us that it was a upcharge for that.. BUT FAILED TO MENTION that the upcharge WAS $3!!!!!!!!!!! If that is what they charge for that up charge— sure, whatever, that’s high— but would of been nice to know that before we got the ticket. Hell, the queso dip on the menu is $3.95! That just blows my mind. Saying all Of this— the last few years that we have been in casa— it’s been TERRIBLE/AWFUL! It will be awhile before we go...
