Alright, listen up, buttercups! Your favorite golf guru (and professional joke teller, at least according to my kids' eye-rolls) is here to give you the lowdown on The Warrior Golf Club in China Grove, North Carolina. Grab a seat, maybe a cold one, and prepare to chuckle, groan, or maybe both – that's the dad guarantee! So, I packed up the clubs – they were really putter-ing around the garage – and headed over to Warrior. First impression? The place looked up to par! Ha! See what I did there? Right off the bat! Walking onto the first tee, I thought, "Okay, self, let's not drive ourselves crazy out here." But the fairways? Lookin' pretty sharp! Though, I did find myself in the rough a few times. I told the ball, "Looks like you're in a sticky wicket!" It just rolled away from me. Ungrateful! The greens were faster than my teenager running to the dinner table. Tried to make a long putt, but it just kept going, going... gone! My short game felt a little under par, I'll admit. I guess I need to iron out some wrinkles there. The layout? It's got some teeth! Made me feel like a real pro... at losing balls. Pretty sure there's a family of squirrels living better than I do with the number of nuts I fed them! I told my playing partner, "Looks like I'm really contributing to the local wildlife economy!" He just shook his head. Some people just don't appreciate fiscal responsibility... or a good joke. Had a little trouble on a dogleg left. My ball went right. I said, "Well, that's not write!" Get it? Write? Right? Oh, you guys are tough critics! But seriously, the folks working there were great. Real drivers for customer service. Made the whole experience smooth, even when my swing wasn't. All in all, The Warrior Golf Club is a fantastic spot. Had a few challenging holes, but that's just life, right? You gotta approach each one with optimism! I had a ball, even if I lost a few. It's a great way to spend a day, get some fresh air, and practice your links-manship. Definitely recommend it if you're in the China Grove area. Just remember to keep your head down... unless you hear a good joke, then feel free to laugh! Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to go practice my putting. I hear the best way to improve is to just keep holing around! Thanks for reading! Don't forget to tip your server... and...
Read moreI was visiting my brother from FL and had heard nothing but good reviews on this course. We booked a 4pm tee time over the phone and were told if they weren’t busy they would let us out early to finish the round before dark. We arrived and asked the woman in the pro shop if it was quiet enough for us to get out a few minutes early, who responded quite rudely stating that if we wanted to go out early we needed to pay the additional $15 for the afternoon time, not the evening time. We understood the reasoning and moved on to warm up without issue.
Around 3:45 we finished warming up on the range and putting green a little early, so we sat patiently on the back side of the pro shop/grill so we could go out as soon as we were called. The woman in the pro shop began calling names to make their way to the box, and after a few minutes sticks her head out the window and told us to go ahead since it appeared the name she called hadn’t arrived to tee off.
We were grateful and thanked her as we proceeded to tee off. We receive a notification on our carts on the #2 tee box that we need to return to the pro shop to pay the remaining $ for teeing off early. We were confused bc we were told to go early and were totally fine waiting patiently for our time had they not given us the green light, so we called the pro shop to notify them that there must some misunderstanding since we were told we could tee off early and didn’t do it on our own will. They proceed to tell us that we “maliciously positioned ourselves” and “fooled” the woman in the pro shop by parking on the backside of the pro shop/grill, and still needed to come back to pay the remaining $. We get in touch with a supervisor who was just as rude and claimed that “people like us are the reason they need to raise their prices” and that we are no longer welcome at this course.
Never before have I experienced anything like this at any course anywhere. I can understand if they made a mistake and confused us with another group, but to claim we “maliciously positioned ourselves” in an effort to “fool” them to get out 10 minutes early is enough for me to never want to give them my money again. It’s apparent the staff and leadership are more focused on money than providing a good experience for golfers. It’s a shame bc the track was awesome and was...
Read moreWarrior Golf Club and its staff have been able to maintain what is often a difficult task in the golfing world. Providing a quality and challenging golf course for all skill levels and across all age groups. Despite the unpredictability of the weather year after year, the staff and maintenance team at Warrior are always positive and encouraging to everyone that plays out there. They are determined to keep the course in as best condition as possible even with the harsh and sometimes extreme weather that North Carolina brings. As a former junior and collegiate golfer, I have been fortunate to play many golf courses over the years across the entire southeast. Warrior is one of VERY few courses that offers a generous practice facility, which includes a practice tee, chipping green and putting green, almost double the size of any other course I've played at. The course is not your typical country club where you must hit it straight as an arrow to shoot par. The layout of this course allows for the advanced golfer to shape shots, play different angles, and practice shots that you cannot practice on other courses. Overall, this is my favorite place to play at and the most comfortable and encouraging place to develop as a golfer. Go book a tee time after their recent renovations are done! The course will be...
