Neighborhood Market — Restaurant in Kansas City

#tldr; Great food to pickup when on the way to the stadiums or enjoy take out to gathering. You'll need a place to eat it.

Finally had to make a trip to The Cocky Ocky Grill at 39th & Cleveland to try it out. I went after golf and grabbed the special, their house burger with wings and fries. It was around $20, and a ton of food.

There's no tables, and the only stools sit in front of the two slot machines inside the store. Try your luck while you wait. Obviously, it was packed up to go. I went to one of my favorite parks at 27th & Gillham to enjoy lunch.

The Cocky Burger is a double cheese burger with turkey bacon. It was good. Not super thin patties but they were cooked well and the turkey bacon, not usually my go-to, was crispy around the edges. If they don't make their own pickles, I gotta know what kind they are! What I know is, they're delicious. Chipotle mayo comes standard, which rocked. Overall a good burger.

The special included 4 wings. I had them lemon-peppered, not sauced. Thought they'd be betrer to taste and travel with. No matter where I go, always get lemon-pepper chicken if it's offered. YUM. Wing sauce was good, similar to buffalo in taste and heat. The wings were crunchy, and carry out didn't affect them at all.

Fries were tasty, double battered style. Even after a 10min drive in a container, they were still super crunchy. Large serving as well.

I will go back to get the Killy Cheesesteak, Chopped Cheese and of course to try some of their breakfast offerings. Check the menu in photos for their offerings. Nice clean spot, friendly staff. This is a good add to the inside gas station...

Let’s talk about a little breakfast/lunch/snack shop located in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri trying to rise. Right on 39th & Cleveland inside the Neighborhood Market!!! I been hearing about this Cocky Ocky Grill alllll over TikTok! Let me say i fell for the hype! Call me a tough crowd but after spending $34 for two people on a burrito and a bagel sandwich, I was not WOW’D!!! You all must wait until hood celebrities come in to give them the wow effect! LOL!!! I didn’t mind waiting 35 minutes. I didn’t mind the candor with the owner, cooks and the line that formed. I didn’t mind the limited choices in breads. What I did mind is the mean chicken burrito missing the mark on flavor, limited chicken, and not even having a drink to wash it down with. My sista’s sandwich was thrown together, sloppy, uneven, and the hash brown was burnt. I am willing to give you another chance seeing as what was most important, was the video being recorded with JWebby when we arrived may have thrown your game off for these first timer!!! Its in the hood! So you definitely gotta be comfortable being in the hood! What ever I seen in the videos & what I was expecting didn't happen! The only good experience was the young lady cooking the food. She was nice & welcoming, eventhough they didn't have anything on the menu! No sides, no fries, no nothing.... just meat😳. I got the chicken sandwich for me & burger for my son. My sandwich was horrible, lettuce was old & wilted, I asked for everything but only got pickles.
