The Launch Bar And Grill — Restaurant in Kathio Township

It's a beautiful space with a fantastic view. It has the feeling of an open brewery. High ceilings modern decor large bar in the center and floor to ceiling windows that overlook the lake with patio seating. Really nice vibe. Sadly, it was overshadowed by just about the worst service I've seen. They had only two servers on a Friday afternoon and it was very busy. I watched at least two groups of people get seated, get ignored for 15+ minutes and then leave. As far as the food, the burgers and fries were good, the chicken Caesar salad was dry and literally had no dressing on it, I asked for some on the side and it took 10 minutes of me just waiting to eat. We ordered chicken wings to come before the meal and they were forgotten and came after we finished our meals (they did offer to take them off of the bill). We finished our water, pop and beer after the first 20 minutes as it was warm summer day and not even once were we offered another drink or even water. The server never checked in with us after serving the tables nearby, she just rushed by us without even looking at us as she was clearly overwhelmed. I tried to be compassionate when she finally did come by and said "wow, it's quite understaffed here huh?" And she got defensive and said, "we never have more than two servers on Fridays and it's usually fine" Really? A Friday afternoon in July on Milacs lake? All I have to say is it's a shame. It has the ambiance and even food of a place I'd like to frequent on my way to the cabin but probably...

It took more than 10 minutes to have our table even acknowledged. The restaurant was probably below 25% capacity. After 15 minutes, we were brought waters. No menus. After 20 minutes I walked around and found menus myself so we could at least order when the server came back. After 30 minutes our drinks were quickly slammed on the table and our server ran off again without taking our order. We waited another 5-10 minutes before we decided to leave. I brought the nearly full drinks in to tell the bartender we needed to leave/haven't even ordered after 40 minutes. The bartender said we would need to pay for the drinks. Incredulous, we started slamming the drinks as we stood their waiting for our card back. The bartender must have talked to a manager who at least decided to comp the drinks we didn't enjoy. They had one big table, which as a former server I empathize with, but at least drop menus or drinks by instead of ignoring other tables. My wife and I stopped in at The Launch Bar & Grill yesterday on our way home from Crosslake and we're so glad we did!

From the moment you enter the updated restaurant, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Mille Lacs Lake surrounded by modern nautical themed decor.

The menu offers so much more than you'd find at a typical lakeside bar and we really enjoyed the chili served in a fresh sourdough bread bowl and the incredibly flavorful beer cheese mac & cheese.

It's so easy to forget that Mille Lacs is only about an hour from the Twin Cities and has so much to offer people who want to get away for the weekend. We'll definitely be back and are excited to stay at Eddy's...
