Previous rating (see most current review below)... Very cute and super friendly! A place that is busy, definitely tells me they have great food. I've heard so much about this place, of course we had to give it a try.
I'd like to start with some good points. As previously stated staff was amazing! It's beautifully decorated and the bar is pretty darn cool. The fish and chips were easily the greatest thing on the menu!
During our visit, it was so busy that it took a while to have drinks refilled, that was a bummer. Then my food arrives and I had the prime dip (can't remember exact name.) It was mostly fat, you could see it when you opened sandwich. The au juis was so good, however the sandwich did not meet to those standards.
I'll definitely give it another try, really want to give it 5 stars. Maybe during slower times.
..............
Gave it a couple more tries
Try 2: Ticket machine broke, a complete house full of guests and most walked out. Being a forgiving person our party stayed. Even after most customers left, it took forever to get food. They did supply free drinks. Which leads me to giving it a third try.
Try 3: Probably the last time we will ever go here. We arrived at 2:35pm. it was nice, found a table that fit all of us (5 of us) and sat right down. Looked legit food was going out. A table next to us had just received their food, smelled good. There was another family on our other side that had just placed their order. My positivity ended here.
Placed our order and enjoyed my time with the family. 3:00pm, man I'm hungry and tired of batting off the flies. They were pesky, probably around 6. Plenty to bug all of us along with other guests. 3:10 table next to us is getting frustrated, the elderly woman tried to ask how much longer their food would be...she was ignored.
Started chatting with that table, they had already been waiting for an hour...what!!! We braced ourselves. Still chatting, our drinks were filled always after it sat there a bit too long in a sad empty cup.
3:30, my God! An hour already, my how time flies....oh wait it didn't. Still hungry, getting completely aggitated by flies. Now my mind is curious are there that many in the kitchen? Please don't let a fly be in my food.
3:40, our neighbors finally got their food! Celebration! Oh crap, we still have to wait. Mind you I have three teenagers. Ravenous famished and on the verge of hangry teenagers. We distract them with conversation.
4:06, the clouds cleared and heavens above blessed us with our food! Miraculous!
Food was as always. Good. Nothing close to the Timber Roadhouse that was closed this particular day.
Every time the staff there is apologetic. 'so sorry for the wait" "so sorry" sorry, sorry. Sorry....please stop saying sorry and just fix it. I'm no business owner and of course will never tell them how to do their job. Please just do what you have to do so we can continue to support our...
Read moreLooking at my past few reviews I should change my name to Burger review. so far in the silver Valley I have had a lot of good burgers but every once in awhile something pops up that's just a little bit better than the rest. not only did they drop off Mayo with all of the other accoutrements they also added extra onion as requested. This was not a single extra ring that sits on the edge of the plate to give the appearance of an extra onion this was enough onion to put it above the burger and below the burger with my Mayo to make a near perfect burger IMHO. I did not get either fries or tater tots with this I requested something different and they offered soup or salad and I got the chicken vegetable soup. Apparently Brent makes the soup and it was a really good mix of vegetables and had corn of which I love in any soup. It was just enough chicken to give me a taste of it but not enough to make the burger jealous that I'm eating another type of meat. I was sitting alone with people behind me and I did not want to take pictures of this delicious Burger to automatically show that I am not necessarily from this town. The Kingston hilltop is about 1 mi west of the Kingston quick stop on the old highway 3. Small shack with a bar but it is actually fairly good sized and the food is fairly good prices are moderate to high based on what you would get and they do include other items such as prime rib and chicken and stuff like that....
Read moreMy family and I have had wonderful prime rib dinners at the Hill Top over the last year. Our last two visits have not been as good! About a month ago we stopped for an early dinner, the restaurant was busy. We ordered prime rib and needed to remind the server to bring the salad several times... she ended up bringing it just in time to be dessert. The food was good although very slow service!
Our last visit was January 1, 2019. We arrived at about 4:30 pm and it was slow. The server stated it had been busy. My husband ordered the fish and chips although was served a burger. Once our order was taken the server did not return to ask if we needed anything, we had to ask for more water and other items. She stated she needed to take a break since it had been so busy. The hot wings were warm on the outside and cold next to the bone. I let another server know and he took it back to the kitchen. When the hot wings were returned to me, they were very hot and seemed like they had been heated in the microwave - the veggies taken off and heated in the microwave! The plate was full of baked on hot sauce and the veggies thrown back on the plate! After visiting this restaurant numerous times in the last year we were...
