Iv been here twice now and this will be the last time. I hate writing reviews and have never written one but I need some closure.
The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere. No complaints there.
Food. At over 200 bucks a person everything better be perfect. The first time we ate there it was ok, so we figured we would try it again. A few dishes were not cooked right but overall it was ok. 3 out of 5.
Second experience: I ordered a cocktail and it was super sweet. I didn't end up finishing it. They used crushed ice in a whiskey drink. The drink looked and tasted closer to dive bar style drink.
The Caesar salad was fine that my girlfriend got. I asked if the bisque was creamy or buttery and the waiter didn't seem to know the menu because he said it was not at all heavy and creamy which I thought was suprising. I ordered it and it was very creamy. I didn't want a bunch of cream since I was doing desert. It tasted ok, but it was a quarter cup of sauce with one tiny ravioli, it was Luke warm.
Then the Scallops came which was really just one scallop sitting on butter not even melted. It was completely ice cold and Raw. We both returned them, they brought us back new plates, my Girlfriends was cooked properly the second time but mine was still a little raw in the middle. The server said it was closer to ceviche clearly not knowing what that was since there was no citrus or anything to kill the bacteria of the raw scallop. I hate the fact that he lied to me about something like that when you can get seriously sick from eating raw food like that when it was supposed to be a seared scallop. At this point the meal should be free IMO.
Next up was the main course. I got the Halibut which was cooked properly but it was just fish mac and cheese, and 2 pieces of Broccoli. Something I felt was about 20$ worth of a plate. It wasn't terrible, but it was advertised as crab mac and cheese and there was no crab or anything to make it interesting. The fish was just seasoned with salt.
Desert was next. It was a raspberry souffle and free donuts for the raw scallops. Everything was so sweet it was impossible for me to eat. They were cooked ok but the doughnuts were very thick icing and not as fluffy as even D&D or crispy cream. I was still hungry after since the only real thing I felt like I ate was a little bit of fish and 2 pieces of broccoli so I was in a hurry to get home and make a sandwich. SOOO disappointing. If it was like 30 bucks it wouldn't be a big deal but we were really looking forward to this.
If you want to check this place out go to the bar and get a beer or wine and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is the worst iv ever had for the price. There are so many amazing places to see in Maine,...
Read moreWe had an excellent experience here. We were staying at Hidden pond and did not have a reservation. We were told we could arrive at 5 and be sat since we were guests of the resort. We did that and everything went great. They brought out fresh focaccia and it was probably the best focaccia I have ever had. (We had a second bowl 🤭) My partner and I both went for the 4 course meal and we decided to share a little of each dish. First course was the Apricot salad and the Risotto. Both very good. The second course was the Scallops and the Cavatelli. The scallops were good, but nothing by to write home about.. The Cavatelli was both of our favorite dish of the entire night. They should make it a min course because it was so creamy and delicious, we fought over every bite! 😜 For Main course we got the Salmon and the Halibut. The Salmon was good. I think with the other flavors my palette wasn’t prepared for the tropical flair it had. All the other dishes were so earthy it was kind of an odd flavor change up. I will note , the “gnocchi” in the dish were AMAZING pillow clouds that I couldn’t get enough of. Put those in with the Cavatelli dish and make it a min course and I would drive here everyday for it 😋 The Halibut was delicious! Second favorite dish to the Cavatelli. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Tart and the Rose cake. We saw everyone raving about the donuts, so we added those on to see the hype. All 3 desserts were good.. stand alone they weren’t rock stars. We combined them and had fun mixing the flavors and I enjoyed the flavors more that way. I am not a huge donut person, but if you like donuts, I will say, these were extremely well done. They came out hot and when you put a cold ice cream with it, the hot and cold on the tongue feel so good and the flavors really pop. My partner loved the Tart. I personally thought all 3 were great only when mixed. Stand alone, just good. Presentation of every dish was just perfection! Our server was Roberto. He is great with customer service, and we actually took his recommendations with drinks and food, and I am glad we did because it ended up being some of our favorite dishes. I also forgot to mention drinks. My partner started with the hidden smoke, and loved it. After dessert we ordered the Fire in the Forest, and it was DELICIOUS. we took it over to the fire pit and relaxed and enjoyed the fire and evening sky as the stars started coming out. (We were there for 3 hours total including sitting outside for about 30 minutes). I absolutely can’t wait to come back. For the people who write poor reviews, do not listen. Yes the costs might be a little high here For some, but it’s worth the money (I actually find the costs reasonable). I look forward...
Read moreMy best friend and I went to Earth for dinner last Saturday. I hadn’t been there for over a year. It was such a surprise, incredible, unexpected experience, way above our expectations. From a culinary perspective, the menu is super well balanced with dishes that are comforting and innovating. The kitchen executes it to perfection, using outstanding produce and cooking it all in a way that showcases each element on your plate, yet never managing to hide one from the other. One thing I loved was the fact that all protein was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, never needing any sauces to mask its own flavour. We had duck, fish, venison, roasts carrots, ravioli, the tuna sashimi, the scallops and the soup of the day. Portions are perfectly sized. In my opinion, outstanding value for money. The wine list is excellent. Diverse, affordable and complementary to the menu. Deserts were nice as well, especially the Opera Cake and the Pavlova (I could have had a pint of the home made raspberry sorbet that comes as a side to it!). Service was also a star milestone. We had Charlie as a waiter. It makes a huge difference when you have someone that is passionate about what he’s presenting to you, knows the dishes and can honestly tell you about what they are and make genuine recommendations, on top of being good at reading the table, being present without being fake about it, and overall just another highlight of the evening, without being intrusive or over the top (which I find can be the case in some similar restaurants that are training their staff to over sell or use key moments of the evening to interject and justify a tip, or make up for not so perfect aspects of the service). Earth’s environment keeps you relaxed in a very beautiful and elegant room that transports you to a little fairy land of an elegant lodge lost in a wintery forest in Maine. It’s very chic, yet not stuffy. It’s cozy. It has a great vibe for adults, no matter the occasion. But let the Earth’s environment set the mood, I think you should focus on the food, if you’re into it… you can have fun putting together your prix fix menu and have a jolly dinner with someone you like… The only aspect of the night that I think deserves attention from management is that we had a table next to us with a small child, 5 or 6, that was watching Nickelodeon on mum’s phone, without an earphone. My friend could hear Dora the Explora’s every move in her quest to find her backpack… but it was an early winter Saturday evening and the girl was a saint. I would however, empower staff to monitor and curb anyone using their phones on speakers, or FaceTime, while at their table. It was a GREAT dinner!...
