So, I jumped the gun this year and bought a king cake on 12/28 before all the normal bakeries put them out. I saw a Cartozzo's Praline Pecan flavored cake at a grocery store in Waveland, MS, and I figured for $23 we would give it a shot. This is what we had: Pros: Available before the other bakeries have them, and you can get them in MS (huge plus). The plastic wrapper was also tight around the package that you had to cut it off with scissors (good to keep it fresh). Cons: Flavor - No praline taste whatsoever. The flavor was very artificial/chemical cinnamon flavored. It really took us back when we tried it. Filling - Although it's not a "pralines & cream," I've never seen a praline flavored king cake with no praline filling. In fact, it really had minimal filling of any kind anyway. The filling seemed to have the overbearing cinnamon flavor, so I assume that's why they went light on it. Texture - The topping was dried onto the cake and cardboard and you really had to get the knife blade between them to separate them. Otherwise, you leave a lot of topping in the box. Topping: Was like a sweet sugar mix. It didn't have much flavor; it tasted like sugar and was overpowered by the cinnamon. The topping was like a hard, thin shell. Was really odd, but I wouldn't say it was terrible. Other Observations: Very dense; not overly moist, but dense in a brick kinda way like it was baked with a good amount of heavy oil. The cake was average-sized for $23, so no complaints for being too small. It's just the flavor is not very good. I would describe it as a packaged cinnamon roll, but a can from the frozen section or a trip to a cinnabon would give you a much better product. Expecting a decent king cake, this one just didn't do it.

My wife's coworker brought this back from New Orleans never heard of a king cake this one has cream cheese checked off on the box. This Bakery should contact Publix and start selling them throughout the southeast this cake is something special. In Tampa Alessi's Bakery makes a Tiramisu for all the Publix supermarkets the king cake would be a great addition to the there Bakery section.

My husband picked up a strawberry and cream cheese king cake from the New Orleans airport on his way back from a trip, and we were so disappointed. Instead of a fresh strawberry flavor, it had a pink, chemical-tasting filling that didn’t resemble strawberry at all. Such a letdown!

I ordered a king cake through Cajun Grocer and my king cake was delivered with no icing at all. It was sealed and well traveled to me here in Florida. Somehow someway my king cake did not have the icing in the middle of the king cake. I tried to speak with Cajun Grocer, they told me to send them pictures. I did that. Then they said we have to see what upper management can do in this case? Well nothing they pretty much told me I was stuck with a king cake with no icing. So I went to Cartozzo's website I saw a 504 number in the corner of the page I called the number and wouldn't you know it was the owner of Cartozzo's Bakery answering his cell phone. I had no idea that was his personal cell phone, if I did I would not have called the gentlemen. Well anyway he answered and took my call. I explained everything to him. He told me Cajun Grocer should have contacted him at once, and they never did. Well this man went above and beyond the call of duty. He told me I am going to send you another king cake. I said I just need the icing, he said give me your address and I will send. Well he did that the very next morning. I received a package from UPS and I saw it was from Cartozzo's Bakery, but it looked like a bigger box then the first order that was sent to me. Well shock myself and my wife, he has sent another praline pecan king cake & to top it off another king cake in wedding cake flavor and complimentary packages of coffee. This owner loves his business and took it upon himself to do what he did for us, what Cajun Grocer should had done from the get go. We will never forget this Mr. Angelo! I did not think there were still honest nice people in the world, but he proved me wrong! We always get our king cakes from his bakery, because they are the very BEST out of all the other bakery's in New Orleans, and prices are decent compared to others, he beats their prices! He carries more then just king cakes, check out their website and enjoy all they have to order! Thank you again to the owner, and anyone reading this do not hesitate to get your own king cake from the best of the best. God Bless this company and family! The owner Mr. Angelo is an...

Angelo Cartozzo/Cartozzo Bakery owes me money for a shipment that was completed for Angelo. He apparently likes to also buy different types of military equipment and have it shipped, but he quit paying for the shipping. He has been asked repeatedly to send over the payment to get this resolved and has not done it. We are talking since 2015 that he has owed this and has many opportunities to have this taken care of. I personally would not shop at this establishment knowing this about his personality. Be warned, he is a liar and a thief! I still had to pay for this shipment for our driver and he received his equipment. I did everything that I was supposed to and delivered your equipment...
