"family restaurant" Literally felt as if we intruded into a family home by being in the restaurant "Great food" Upon the first bite of chicken françese, I honest to God thought I was getting rapid heart burn. Later found out it was the largest quantity of lemon I've ever witness in one dish. The chicken was the texture of a sponge and due to the vast amount of sauce, the breading was dripping off; to be fair, seeing a solid drip was actually pretty cool. I'm by no means a cook, but being able to identify that the wine was not even approaching reduction made me feel like a champ. The pasta was, however, done well, at least two weeks ago when it felt like they cooked it. I've never considered talking to the staff about how horrible a meal was, nor have I ever refused to pay for a meal I received; but my Lord I was awfully close. The meal left my stomach in knots, but the thought that I paid $45 for it gave me the sweet relief I craved when I was ready to vomit 15 minutes later. I truly regret each negative review I leave but if this place closes it's doors today, I may spend my entire life trying to match the feeling of elation I would receive from that news. 0/10. I may even stop traveling down Wilmington Pike as to not relive the horror I was served.
It has been years since I wrote this, but someone invited me here and I had to share with them this review. The thought of that restaurant still sends trembles down my spine. I have saved no less than 8 people from the recurring night that was the plate of food I was given in this restaurant. Was hopeful covid would be the end of this place. But alas, it has managed to...
Read moreI preface my comments with -- They did eventually honor the $5.00 from a $25.00 purchase phone coupon from Local Flavors. But I had to fight for it.
My wife and I visited about 8:00pm on Friday 12/07/18. We chose Troni Brothers because of a Local Flavors $5.00 discount coupon. We tend to try and frequent locally owned businesses where possible.
When our waiter presented our bill, I presented my phone with the electronic $5.00 off coupon from Local Flavors. He told me the owner needs paper coupon to honor the discount. I questioned, "Are you telling me the electronic coupon is a fraudulent?" He said, "No. But the owner requires a paper coupon." I told our server, "that he had a problem, because I had presented a legally binding coupon." At this point an older foreign man came out of the kitchen proclaimed, "The owner requires paper coupons!" I said, "I understand, please get him on the phone." He said, "I'm not calling the owner about this." I said, "Fine, take off the $5.00, and we'll be on our way."
The older man returned to the kitchen, and our server came back with the $5.00 adjustment on the bill. I paid the bill, tipped the server on the original bill amount, and we left.
Moral to the story. Based on my experience this evening, Troni's does not regularly accept electronic coupons. Local Flavor users, you are...
Read moreVisited for the first time for a carryout order. Staff friendly and helpful when explaining menu items to us. Sicilian style cheese pizza was very good and would definitely order again. Excellent crust and cheese. Sauce had true Italian flavor without any sweetness. Also had the sausage sub. Italian sausage was sliced type and very good. Came with cheese, onions and green peppers. We had banana peppers added. Sub was good, but not sure I would order again. Would most likely try their stromboli. We paid by credit card and noticed on the receipt that the purchased items were listed at a higher charge than the menu reflected. When we asked about the higher prices, the Troni guy pointed to a small, business sized card taped low to the front of the counter, stating that since we paid by credit card, that there was an extra fee added on. So, if you want to pay the menu prices, pay by cash or check. Looking forward to returning to try their regular crust, "Bruschetta"...
