I had the worst experience that I’ve ever had at any establishment in my life! The cashier was extremely rude and disrespectful. As a former life long resident of Kilgore I always stop by Johnny Ozark when I’m in town BUT never again!! I was told that “We don’t have any original chicken because they ain’t making no more”. While I continued to order my food, I’m assuming the man that blasted through the door was the manager, he proceeded to announced to the whole restaurant that as of 7:05 pm “I’m not making anymore dark meat! Don’t sale anymore legs!”; despite the fact that the restaurant doesn’t close until 9pm. At that point I had already ordered chicken legs and was not offered any alternatives. We made adjustments to our order once again; and having had dealt with several rude comments throughout the ordering process my spouse stated to me that “we should have gone somewhere else”. To which the cashier responded with “Yes, you should have!” We felt so disrespected that we had to exit the restaurant immediately! As we were leaving the cashier began to yell out sarcastic remarks to which we ignored. If I could leave this place a negative star I would BUT unfortunately google makes you leave at...
Read moreMy grandson and I stopped here because wanted fried chicken. He ordered four (4) legs - nothing else. We sat down right underneath the menu on the big, long bench right in front of the cashier that took our order. There was a man sitting underneath the window waiting for his order. They called his name really loud as a matter of fact she had to call it twice because he didn't respond. But after waiting a good 15-20 minutes for his chicken, I noticed a couple that came in after us, they were seated in the dining room and had received their food and were eating. So, I got my receipt out and went around the corner where the servers were standing and asked how much longer it was going to be before this order was going to be ready. The server that was the runner (took to go orders to the vehicles outside) said "oh its right here, you must not have heard your name called it's pretty busy in here". THAT'S A LIE. They didn't call a name - we were sitting right there, and the order came out before the cashier (Alexis) left the register about 4:00 p.m. Do better. Also, she didn't ask for my name, she heard me call my grandson by his name and that is what she put...
Read moreI have been driving by there for years...either in a hurry to get to work or get home. Wife called and said to bring something home for dinner. Work van would not fit under drive through so I went in. Menu on the wall. Got the 16 or so piece crispy chicken, mash potatoes and some chkn livers for my grumpy father in law. Drove home to Big Sandy and it was all still hot and crispy. This was the best chicken I have had since I lived in south Louisiana! Potatoes and brown gravy were excellent! The other "chain" places do not come close this. Had a big iced tea, unsweet, to drink on the way home. It was fresh and among the best. I WILL be stopping by here every so often. It seemed a little pricey, but it is so good you will know that your money well spent....plus, me, wife, two ravenous teens and a grumpy father in law ate on it for dinner and lunch the next day. Only one NEGATIVE...the rolls. They are the ones baked together in a square and you pull them apart...maybe it was the 40 minute drive home, or that they were on top (separated by paper) of the box of chicken, but...
