We came in and were told to sit anywhere. We were handed menus and in letters you can’t miss we saw that there was an 18% mandatory gratuity fee and after our eating experience I could see why because if they didn’t list that they probably wouldn’t get a dime or even a penny as a tip!!! I have never been treated so rudely ever by any establishment until I came there. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and was served in a filmy glass and told the server (which states she runs the place) and after I was given a very stern look was told ‘all of them look that way, so what did I want?’ After looking at the menu I ordered a turkey club sandwich, my companions ordered a turkey sandwich and the other a hamburger. While waiting for our meals we noticed a man with a medium sized chihuahua in his arms go to the kitchen, stop and talk to the cook (while he was preparing meals) and then proceed through the kitchen with this chihuahua in his hands. Then another server came in and proceeded to say something to the cook and then the cook started yelling at him right in front of all the customers! This prompted the manager to slowly come see and then all three of them discuss there issues right out loud and in front of everyone. Then after being disgusted about that I asked where the restroom was and our server pointed to doors outside. The restroom was disgusting! No toilet paper, went to wash my hands... no soap, went to dry my hands and... you guessed it no paper towels and plus they had a huge waste container that was filled to the brim with trash. I brought this to the attention to the server and after rolling her eyes proceeded to state in a disgruntled tone ‘I’ll let them know’. (It made me wonder if the servers cook and serve our food without washing their hands after using the restroom.). After bringing our meals to the table the server said ‘alright, who ordered what?’ I said, I think I ordered a turkey sandwich... then she proceeded to say emphatically ‘NO! You ordered the turkey club!’ After being in shock by her demeanor we began our meals. They were tasteless, (the bread was stale) and overpriced. When we finished she (the server) brings over our ticket (and didn’t even give us a chance to view it) before stating ‘I’ll take your card now’. Before I could get a word out of my mouth (because I wanted to view the cost and ticket) she looks at my companion and said ‘I’ll take your card and be back with a receipt’. The moral of this story is.... if you want to be treated badly while being overcharged for food and eat in a disgustingly dirty and questionable atmosphere amidst their drama... then, by all means, visit...

Avoid this place like the plaque, unless you're verging on death by starvation or in search of a comical attempt at restauranteuring.

My family visited this restaurant a while back and had the single worst restaurant experience of my adult life.

We arrived with a fairly large group of extended family. About 8 or 9 in our party. The place was empty except for 2 other groups. The waitress sighed when we asked if a couple of tables could be pushed together for our group.

The waitress reluctantly agreed, then knocked my wife's new purse off the back of her chair (we assumed accidentally) but she didn't bother to apologize.

Nothing earth shattering so far, but certainly not a great initial impression.

The restaurant staff then proceeded to look busy for the next 20 minutes, never bothering to take our order or offer to answer any questions.

Keeping in mind the incredibly high prices, this wasn't sitting well with me. My family was hungry and wanted to eat so we stuck it out... hoping for the best.

After an additional 10 minutes, the group near us began making noise about the lack of service. They'd been there before we arrived, had ordered in fact, but hadn't seen their food after 30 minutes. They kindly leaned over to me and suggested we make a run for it :-)

Needless to say we left at that point, and with hunger pangs as our companion journeyed further northward in search of sustenance and a...

Where to start.... well for one thing, $30 for fish and chips is pretty nuts. But on top of that it was the worst, most bland food I've eaten in a long time. Neither my friend or I have ever sent food back at a restaurant but we should have. We had to make a special request just to have salt and pepper at our table to try and give it some seasoning.... Oh and that brings me to the next item, the service. Absolutely horrible. I don't know if the waitress was having a bad day, or just hates her job because she works at and extremely overpriced joint with bad food, I expect the tips aren't rolling in. They didn't from us either. Any request we made (another $8.00 805 beer, or side of ranch) was met with attitude like we were being difficult customers. Meanwhile there were only 4 other people eating there..... She had a cute relationship with a local seagull though, maybe she needs to quit and go work somewhere with animals!

Anyways, had diarrhea that night, and all I had to eat was the pesto pasta. How do you mess that up?

End of story. Don't go here. Bad food, insane prices, bad service, and an upset stomach. The gas station nearby is just as bad and the gas prices are INSANE ($8.49 / gal)

0 stars all around.

EDIT: Oh I forgot.... I never managed to get a refill on my initial glass of water, maybe they don't care because they can't charge...

My dog and I had a great time here on our road trip back up the 1. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio surrounded by plants. :) The waitresses were friendly and prompt with making sure we had what we needed, and I thought the food was yummy. I had a tuna melt with fries, and they were willing to make me an Arnold Palmer even though that wasn’t specifically on the menu, but they serve lemonade and iced tea. The view was gorgeous, and there were 2 mini markets for snacks and things. A gas station was also there... which was convenient but the price of gas was twice anywhere else, which makes sense since this is in a remote area but I cried a little about the gas prices as I refilled my tank. My dog also really appreciated when the waitress skillfully asked if she could have a piece of bacon - which I also appreciated. She made sure to hide it behind her back to make sure it was ok first before she gave my dog the bacon strip, and then came back later with a second piece “for the road!” All in all: The food was yummy, the place was clean, and the waitress was kind to both my dog and I. I’d definitely return here.

If you don’t mind eating blend and bad food yet pay a price like it was great, check out this place. Otherwise save yourself the frustration and find some other place. It started with grabbing a sticky and greasy door handle. The kitchen looked old and not very clean and the menu was greasy. We ordered enchiladas, soup and cheese sandwiches for the kids. Absolute the worst thing we are in quite some time. Breakfast at Dannies or lunch at White Castle seems to be like a culinary treat compared to this junk. The soup was clearly straight from a can. The enchiladas were so dull and oxidized that even my son didn’t eat it. Fries were cold, fat and soft. The ham and cheese sandwich was the best of the worst with cheap tasting and looking cheese. Avoid this place like the plaque. $60 wasted.

Whale watchers cafe was a much needed pit stop along this particular stretch of my roadtrip through California. Although the captain's plate with an assortment of fried fish sounded tasty, the waitress informed me that the calamari was actually frozen. Instead, I opted for the fish a chips and was completely blown away by the flavour. As long as you check your expectations and realize the constraints of opening a business in an extremely remote part of a mountain, you'll certainly have a great time. The views from either the patio or inside are absolutely stunning which makes it all worth it.
