We normally love this place. Their food is really good. Tonight however we got horrific service and we won't be back for awhile. They were busy and we understand having to wait but what we struggle with is when people who arrive after us getting their food before us. We ordered 2 hamburger baskets and 2 Thursday night specials; which was already cooked as it was pot roast. Our wait was over 45 minutes and when asked for an update and pointed out tables who had gotten their food before us. The owner came out of the back and spoke so loudly that the whole restaurant stopped and stared. She indicated that she had been working for 9 hours and that they were busy. Basically her attitude was deal with it. I had just put in a long day myself with work and wouldn't treat my customers that way. We had been pleasant up until that point but find that type of customer service terrible. We went out of our way to make sure to support them when the pandemic had everything shut down except carry out and just feel this was really a terrible way to treat...
Read moreI have driven past this cafe many times on my travels to Durham. This morning I decided to stop to eat a late breakfast. I hoped to experience some friendly local color. It was anything but friendly. I was greeted with stares by wait staff and other customers in the restaurant. Guess they are not used to seeing strangers in their cafe. Eventually I received a menu and then had to wait longer than I had expected to order. The waitress seemed disengaged and disinterested. The food was mediocre. The pancakes tasted like bisquick batter, the syrup was Aunt Jemima and the sausage links were cooked so long they were tasteless and tough. My first cup of coffee was definitely the bottom of the pot. It tasted burnt. The second cup was fresher. The price for the food was reasonable. I was really disappointed in Little Creek Diner. I was happy to leave and won't return. Yes..I was the person who left a large tip this morning. There is no reason to be rude...so please don't be that way to others. A greeting and a smile would...
Read moreTheir cheeseburgers are the best I've eaten: juicy, tender, & it must be hand pattied, & fresh, because it's too good to be frozen! The slaw is the perfect compliment! I honestly haven't taken advantage of their other items, thinking that they were just another burger joint, but nothing could be further from the truth. I'll be eating good for lunch with chicken pie, potatoes & gravy, fried squash, green beans, cornbread, with cake to boot! I just saw the pics on their Facebook page, as I don't get on it much anymore, & was sorely disappointed I missed getting the soup when they had it. I looks just like what my husband fixes, & his is the best! Even the kids don't turn down those veggies! I hope they stick around for a...
