I really didn’t want to leave this review - but after my boyfriend being scolded on the phone by the owner I fear I must.

We dined at solstice last night to celebrate our two year anniversary. The food was great, the service was great, everything was awesome.. until it wasn’t. We got home and walked the beach and my boyfriend proposed to me (I said yes!)

We called our families and about an hour to two hours later our stomachs started to hurt. We thought maybe it was nerves from excitement. Well.. let me tell you.. we were the sickest we had ever been in our lives. Both of us throwing up and needing to use the rest room all night. It was absolutely horrifying.

I know food borne illness can happen - were not stupid. So we were never going to leave this review publicly.. but we called the restaurant and emailed - no answer. Finally we called again and then the owner called me. He immediately started berating us and telling us we were liars and that he has never had someone sick from his food. He then called my boyfriend dramatic and said that we couldn’t possibly get so sick so soon after food poisoning so it must not have been true.

Today was supposed to be the HAPPIEST day after getting engaged and we truly have never felt so sick, and then to be told we’re liars. Wild.

I’ve been in the service industry half of my life and this was so poorly handled it’s not even funny.

You can see if you click on my profile that I always leave RAVING reviews at establishments.. so this is hard for me to write.

Also.. Kayla our sever was...

My husband and I finally made it out for a date night after 3 months (we have baby so dates are rare) we picked solstice. Unfortunately we had horrible service and were waiting over 20 mins just to find the waiter to order a new drink. We also ordered our food then proceeded to wait over 40 mins for it to arrive. Because we couldn’t find our waitress we had to go to the hostess to ask her to find her. When the food did come out my $55 filet was scorched. It was so burnt I couldn’t even tell what I was eating. I was hesitant to say anything but did and sent it back when she insisted it would only take a few minutes. 15 mins later and once my husbands meal and our sides were cold it came out. At the end of the day, even with a new steak. It just was not good meal, not worth the $55 ticket price. I would have maybe spent $25-30 on that steak and been ok with it. My husbands was overcooked as well, also scorched and tasted burnt and just overall not a good piece of meat. He got the veil shank. At the end of the meal I anticipated some sort of compensation would be taken care of- either a meal/ side comped or dessert because of how poor our experience was but the waitress offered nothing. One of the worst meals I have had in over 5 years. I live 2 mins away and will...

We were sat right away which is nice because we had a reservation. The table was not the best, to much traffic walking by from the kitchen. We ordered drinks first , Blueberry Lemoncello Spritz was very nice, the Tito's and Tonic was very light on the Tito's so asked for a shot to put in it. We ordered the Orange Cauliflower for an appetizer which was cooked properly but NO flavor at all. Very disappointed. We ordered the Atlantic Halibut which was cooked great but again not much flavor at all. The other meal was the seared scallops which was very good but again lacking in any type of spice. We ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake to share ( because it was our anniversary, which was never mentioned even though it was on the reservation) and it came out barley warm . The taste was ok but the "lava" part was not flowing. All in all for the price we paid and it being an " upscale" restaurant I would have expected a bit more. Nice to try but probably will...

5 stars across the board. This has stolen my #1 spot for places to eat in the area. I am the type of person who is picky and i say this from the bottom of my heart. this place is DIVINE. The service is wonderful. The drinks are strong and delicious. The atmosphere was perfectly romantic. The food. Don't get me started on the food. The bao buns were expertly made with an excellent crunch. The duck, stop it, I've never had duck like this. It was INCREDIBLE. The desserts are all homemade that day in house! The Espresso martini uses actual vanilla. I'm blown away. We were seated in front of the fireplace. Go on a Friday night at 5 and you will have the best, quiet, romantic experience. So much care is put into every single detail. Thank you Kayla for an unforgettable date night!!

I enjoyed my experience at Solstice as I attended dinner here this evening. The atmosphere was comfortable & the food was good. I ordered the Burrata Salad, Halibut w/ Asparagus & Solstice Cake for dessert. I loved the music selection playing in the background (Unchained Melody, My Girl, Runaround Sue were a few of my favorites). The service staff was very kind. Kayla was attentive & Trish took over towards the end of the meal. I really enjoyed her service. Something very pleasant & gentile about her. I liked how both ladies didn’t make me feel rushed as I was finishing up a book I was reading.

Solstice has remained one of the best fine dining destinations on the South Shore for over two decades. The specials are always fresh and offer a variety of tastes. I usually choose anything seafood. Formerly a train depot, the interior of this brick building offers a warm and comfortable environment. Solstice is great for date nights, hanging with friends, or celebrating special occasions with family. You have to make reservations most nights as it gets busy around peak hours 5-8pm. Parking is sometimes tight as the parking lot is oddly shaped.
