I ordered the Frankfurter Kranz - Crown of Frankfurt cake on October 31, 2020. As on their website it stated that there would be a 2-week delay because of the COVID-19, which is understandable. I waited 2 weeks, no E-mails or status updates. I sent an E-mail asking about the status of when the cake would be shipped. The company responded fairly quickly and stated to me that the cake will be shipped out on Monday, November 16, 2020 or at the latest on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. So, Tuesday came and no shipment and the status of the cake still said unfulfilled. I sent another E-mail asking about the cake shipment and since it had not been shipped, I asked for a refund. About an hour later, about the time the business would have closed, I received an E-mail with a UPS tracking number only…no response to the E-mail I had sent about a refund because the status on their website still indicated the cake was unfulfilled. So, I checked their website after I had gotten the UPS tracking number and then it finally had said fulfilled. 3 days later, on Friday, November 20, 2020, almost 3 weeks since I had ordered the cake, it was delivered. The box that the cake was shipped in was damaged because it was a flimsy 12x10x8 box. I was worried that the cake was damaged and when I opened the box, there was a lot of Styrofoam peanuts on top of the cake box. The cake was wrapped in some flimsy, insulated wrapping and then wrapped in shrink wrap. The cherries were squashed on top into the cake. There was no dry ice shipped with the cake. Packaging was very bad for the cake. The opinion of my friend on the taste without having ever tasted this style of cake before: The nuts tasted burned and a little bitter when perhaps they should have tasted like they were toasted. I have ordered multiple times and had no issues until my last and current order. I am giving 2 stars because I feel like I have given them every opportunity to respond and they have not. On 7/7 I ordered 2 dozen of their heart springerle. On 7/9, I received an email saying it had shipped with a USPS tracking number..

Every time I check the tracking number it says that a label has been created but they have not received the package from the sender. It is now 7/19. I am unable to get a response from the bakery. I emailed twice, posted on FB on their site, sent them a FB message through messenger, I have called twice, left a VM once and have gotten no reply.

I understand there could be delays due to COVID but all I have asked is for someone to let me know the status of my order and when I can expect it. Granted since it’s taken longer than normal, even longer than during Christmas 2020, I would have liked to change the mailing address if it hasn’t shipped. At any rate I’m beyond frustrated that the phone goes to VM every time I’ve tried during business hours, and no one will return my calls or emails.

Very disappointing. I will update review if I ever hear back and when I get my package.

UPDATE Got a FB message this morning from the bakery. There was a sudden illness with the baker who does the springerle cookies and my order was not shipped. She is evidently also the one that does customer service since it is a small shop and responded when she got out. She is baking fresh cookies and is going to change the address and mail them directly to my mom since these were originally for an 80th birthday trip that didn’t...

Lesson learned. Don’t order from them. I gave them two tries. First ordered a few weeks before mother day. Order finally arrived very late after I had to prompt them to send it. But at least they were responsive.

Then I ordered a number of items far in advance of a planned event but again, the order did not come. The event passed and they did acknowledge that they were holding off shipping for a week due to heat. Ok. So I continued to wait with nothing arriving. After two months and still no indication of anything being shipped I cancelled the order via email.

Never got a response but learned much later that it had shipped and arrived at my house 8 days later. Unfortunately I was out for the week and the cake, rolls sat in front of the house for a week+. Oh and it was not even all the items.

I’ve now reached out to them multiple times by email and phone and get zero response about this late, ruined, and incomplete order.
