Made a reservation through open table at 9:30pm after viewing on their website that they were open until midnight every night. This was my wife and I's only night to go out and celebrate Valentine's Day since we work relatively late during the weekdays. She chose this place because the dining room looked elegant and she wanted to go somewhere romantic with Mediterranean food which is her favorite. I arrived but my wife was running late so I decided to have a seat at the bar. I told the bartender my situation and said I would have a drink until my wife arrived. Shortly after I was told that the kitchen would be closing at 10:00pm and that I needed to put an order in soon if I wanted to get any food. My wife was just pulling into the parking lot at this point. When I asked the bartender about the early close she didn't seem to know what was going on either, because she reiterated that they were supposed to be open until midnight. After my wife came in I told her the situation and she was devastated. As I'm trying to convince her that we can find another place to eat, another team member chimed in and said that we could still have a table and order if we would like. Not sure who she was because she never identified herself. That cheered us up a bit and they asked us for an order right away. When they told us the table was ready, we were expecting to be put in the dining room but was instead, sat at a table in the middle of the bar. The bartender continued to take care of us even with the loud music and even louder guests gathering around us. At one point a few of the other guests even started making fun of us because we were eating in the middle of the bar. We did our best to ignore them. Needless to say this was not the romantic date in the dining room like what we were expecting. Throughout the course of the night we were never checked on by a manager nor did anyone speak up about our situation. Which is a shame because the bartender Elaine was sweet otherwise. After getting the check, I asked why we didn't get checked on by a manager or anything and she replied that the manager had left for the night before we arrived. It struck me as odd that no manager was around to close the restaurant, but even more odd considering she told us earlier when our dessert arrived that the MANAGER had written the heart on the dessert plate for us. In the end we didn't even get an apology, only a reference name on the check that said "sorry" which made me feel sorry for even giving this place a chance. Save your money because there are plenty of better more respectable places to go that actually care about...
Read moreI went to Cypress with my wife and another couple. I ordered the swordfish entree, and my wife ordered a shrimp kabob special. She asked if she could substitute the chili hummus for something else, and the waitress suggested potatoes. When our food arrived, my wife was surprised there were only four small shrimp total and the rest vegetables (it looked like at appetizer). But the real problem was the swordfish it was the tail end piece. The thickest was less than a quarter inch, it was EXTREMELY DRY and FISHY. I called the waitress over and told her the rice is the best I ever had but i could not eat the fish it was like cardboard. She said she would go talk to the cook. I sat there and watched everyone eat their meal and wondered what was happening with my meal. To my surprise, the waitress later came over and asked if we wanted dessert. I didn't even have dinner yet. My wife ordered dessert. The waitress asked if I wanted dessert and I told her I couldn't have dessert. She then brought two extra desserts and said they were for everyone at the table and they were on the house because of my dinner. I just wanted dinner and couldn't believe it. I didn't say anything. My wife ate her dessert, but the other two desserts weren't touched. When the bill arrived, they charged an extra six dollars for the substitute potatoes, and i was charged for the swordfish dinner that I was still waiting for. They only changed for the one desert, not the two that we neither ordered or ate. I told her that I wasn't paying for my dinner and now for the potatoes either. She said she would talk to the management. The management came over and said they would remove the potatoes. I said the main point was the bad dinner that I never ate. She then sent over the owner. He was very rude and asked what the problem was. I explained how inedible the fish was. He angrily left and then came back with the fish and potatoes removed and then said he wouldn't take any coupons. I said it was the other couples cash certificate, not a coupon, and they had nothing to do with our issues. He said he would call the police, the other couple said NO I will call the police and pulled his phone out, the owner said forget it he grabbed our cash and certificate on table and i believe said, hope you don't come back. OMG this was the second time I ever sent back a meal, I always tell people not to do so unless absolutely necessary i couldn't believe...
Read moreI've been going to Cyprus since they opened. Every meal has been spot on. Obviously I've found out the apps ,lunch and dinner menu items I enjoy best. The two owners Theo and George From Cyprus are by far the warmest owners you will ever meet. I live near by and I don't drive , at least for now. Both George and Theo upon first finding this out personnaly take the time to deliver meals to my home without my asking. Something another nearby restaurant I've supported for 28 years would never do or even suggest. Not to say I don't enjoy the meals and ambiance at this other nearby restaurant. I might have had my favorite meal of all time this Saint Patrick's day. A true magnificent Real Irish Shepards pie for $18 . The freshest largest monster portion I have ever seen. IM not usually a fan of massive portions , I go more for quality , but this work of art had both and could feed two hungry chubby Irishmen which I was after eating the entire pie myself. Served THE way a shepards should be. Not like a place in pomptain lakes thatcher mcgees, yuck , that drops some greasy chop meat on a plate and covers it with bad mashed potatoes. I wish St Pats at Cyprus Restaurant took place once a week. Be sure to let George and Theo know that Wayne suggested you begin going there on a regular basis. Prices are more then fair. I Do like to Order my meals with No Extra Salt. THE OYSTERS ARE FRESH AND if you like grilled octopus I recommend the one on the menu served with cannalini beans and arugala. Washed down with a Cold Glass of Cakebread Sauvenoin white. Available by the glass at $14. CYPRUS does feature great wines by the glass for FAR LESS. Im partial to their House Cyprus Cab at a far cheaper price. But sometimes we all like to splurge and drink excellent wines like cakebread, especcialy served...
