The venue is absolutely gorgeous, but unfortunately that’s the only good thing. I had my baby shower there on 6/25/22, and to say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. The “event” manager Katherine was extremely uninvolved in communication, and quite honestly very unprofessional with the whole planning process months prior to the event. I would have to call or email several times just to get a short answered response from her. About a month before the event, we went in person to talk with her and pick the menu, but she left in the middle of the day for a personal birthday party. This was after I was told I could come at any time to meet with her. I had called on 6/23/22 to discuss the final count of guests attending, and to make sure there would be enough seating, and extra tables for gifts/favors. She told me she would send an email with a layout of the room to approve for Saturday-an email again, I never received. When I arrived on Saturday, I knew there was not enough seating or extra tables for the gifts/favors that I had called about. When I asked about adding an extra table, at least for seating purposes, the girls working rolled their eyes and were very reluctant to do so. Now we come to the biggest problem of all- the food. Of course being pregnant, this was the part of the shower I was looking forward to the most. Don’t let the menu you pick from fool you, because it is absolutely not what you will get. I picked the sandwich buffet which was supposed to include: 2 types of half sandwiches, salad, gourmet chips, and fruit. Plus I added on dessert for an additional $4 per person (which I thought was supposed to be an assorted variety). I was quoted $757 for the food alone, for 25 people. When I saw the small setup of the food, I could have cried. I was so embarrassed. The sandwiches were so dry you had to take a sip of water just to swallow a bite. The “gourmet chips” were literally bagged SunChips and kettle chips that I could have brought from the dollar store.. I asked the girls working if that’s what they consider “gourmet chips”, and they said yes. What a joke. There was absolutely no fruit cups anywhere to be found, and the dessert was a single piece of cheesecake for each guest.. $4 slice of cheesecake. My husband said something after the event was over, and of course Katherine was no where to be found, nor was any refund offered. I paid almost $800 dollars for awful food, when I could have had Walmart cater something better. I would absolutely tell anyone thinking about planning an event here to steer clear. It is just not...
Read moreWe planned a very last minute trip to the Peter Allen Inn after having some plans cancel for our weekend. We searched for a B&B with nearby wineries within an hour of our home in Geauga County, Ohio. I found the Peter Allen Inn online and was glad to see a room was available. We booked it, not really knowing the venue or surrounding area. It was wonderful! ||||The Peter Allen Inn is gorgeous from the moment you pull into the parking lot. The building is beautifully maintained. The landscaping makes for a lovely setting. We were amazed at the quality of the building from the outside in; every inch is perfectly painted, polished, and kept beautifully clean. The carpets look to be brand new, and the wood floors were gleaming. We stayed in the Dudley Allen room, and it was perfectly appointed. Comfortable bed with luxurious bedding, a fireplace that is easy to use, lush robes in the closet, chocolates and water left in the room for us (complimentary) and a gorgeous updated bathroom. That the owners were able to somehow maintain the historical integrity of the rooms, while also providing updated comforts is a wonder. ||||We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs, and that, too was wonderful. I had a pizza, and my husband had the Tavern burger, and we shared a bottle of Moscato. We felt the food was very good, the setting was unbeatable (outside on a lovely night with a friendly server and live music!), and the pricing was very fair. We also made our way to the Hartford Hill Winery on our trip, and that was worth the 15 min drive! Their "Dream Crusher" wine was wonderful if you like sweet wines. ||||In the morning, we came downstairs and had our complimentary breakfast in the Hearth Room. We enjoyed juice, coffee, and fruit while we waited for our breakfast to be served. There is no menu; it is simply what the cook makes that morning. We had fantastic french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and the best home fried potatoes I've ever had. We left absolutely stuffed.||||All in all, we truly enjoyed our little getaway. The Peter Allen Inn does a fantastic job of making you feel right at home, but in the lap of luxury at the same time. We look forward...
