Okay, get ready for a crazy story.
My wife and I went in around 8:30 pm for a meal. We sat and waited for about 30 minutes before ordering (service was slow but it was the server's 3rd day so it was understandable).
Tap water is not provided and there were no prices for the specials or drinks. We ordered from the menu a NY Strip Steak platter medium rare and boneless wings. After 20 minutes I noticed a sign with prices on the wings. I asked the server who said that's just a specials list and the price on the menu was correct.
When my wife received her steak it was very well done with no flavor. My wife requested it remade. The second came out very well done again. My wife refused both steaks after a small bite of each.
We asked for a check and when it arrived we were charged for the steak and the wings. The steak was $5 more than what was on the menu (which we refused) and the wings were $2 more than on the menu.
I approached the server and told her we are not paying for the steak meal we did not consume and the price on the chicken was wrong. She informed me that her manager was not there but coming soon. At this point, we had already been there for 1 1/2 hours.
John, who introduced himself but never gave his position, arrived. My wife explained what happened and how it had no flavor. His reply, "well, it's a NY strip." He eventually agreed that if his kitchen make it incorrectly twice and that's on him, and he'll remove it. He then proceeded point his finger at my wife, demand he speak (we were letting him speak) and incredibly condescending.
We then discussed that the price on the menu was different than what we were charged and he said, "We can't afford to print new menus all the time. You think you would be charged a lower price when there's a higher price there?" I replied with, "No, I expect to be charged the price that's on the menu." He said we would have to pay the higher price and to "do us both a favor and never come back."
I stood up, handed him the chicken leftovers and said, "No, I won't pay that. I'll pay what was on the menu." and proceeded to the door. He followed and got his camera ready (to take a photo of my license plate). He continued with his demands, finger pointing, verbal abuse, and threatened to call the cops. I gave him my plate number as I was walking.
In the parking lot I looked at him again and said, "I will pay what was on the menu. I even asked for clarification which your server even admitted to."
He replied, "chicken went up! Are you saying the $2 is really going to break you?" Again, I said I would pay what was on the menu.
He continued all sorts of verbal abuse, tried to accuse us of walking out, threatened to call the cops, all sorts of stuff. I asked for the check with the menu price. He demanded I return inside the building after he told me to never return. I refused. He called a staff member inside to bring the updated check.
I was nervous to give him more than the bill itself. I could see him taking the money and saying we paid while refusing to give proper change. My wife looked for change in the car (bill was 13.81 after tax) while I stood there with him. I asked him what the issue really was to which he again berated and verbally abused me.
I asked him if he's the manager and he replied, "I just wash dishes."
I asked him for change for a 10 and I would walk to the door but not go inside the building. His response, "are you sure you have enough for the rest?" As I stood there with another 10 and a 20 in my hand. He demanded to see what was in my hand. I refused.
We walked to the door, he went inside and got the change. I handed him the remaining money and he asked if I, "really need the 12 cents (it should have been 19 cents) because I wouldn't want you to not have enough for the toll."
I said, "no" and walked away. In hindsight, I should have said, "the price of chicken went up. Spend it wisely."
Someone from the restaurant followed us to...
Read moreGreat stop! Not your typical "Biker bar" or "Pizzeria". However, it is both biker/classic car/hot rod enthusiast heaven on weekends it's that and much more.
Friendly Casual and delicious dining / "watering hole". Warm friendly staff, and customers.
Excellent generous Pizza by the slice or Pie. (I'm a huge Pizza Snob, especially NJ style pizza) All I can say is, their pizza is in my top 10 all time favorite places to have pizza.
Bring your appetite! The pies and slices are quite large, quality ingredients, perfect crust , great sauce and generous portions reasonably priced.
Their Steamers are also a personal favorite served with butter and lemon by the dozen
This place has both an indoor and outdoor seating area and while rustic, the quality of the people, food and environment more than make up for any rough edges.
If you want a fancy dining experience, look elsewhere, most weekends it's a friendly biker and collectors/hot rod bar /tavern.
The bar inside is roomy air conditioned, and a holdover "Dive" style Bar with great bartenders, beverages and service.
In addition, they have a separate indoor table top dining room that provides a more intimate dining experience (very casual)
They also have both an outdoor covered seating area (Ample outdoor deck with 8 or ten large picnic tables that each can easily and comfortably seat 4-6 people per table (They apparently have plans to make further improvements to the property moving forward).
While it's sure to be filled with motorcycles and classic cars on the weekends when the weather is nice, 90% of the customers are in the mature end of the age spectrum. (40-90)
Overall, The Log Cabin is a very friendly, comfortable local family style business in a beautiful location with delicious food, great people, ample parking and a kind and comfortable environment.
You'll almost certainly be a return or even regular guest if you give it a...
Read morePaid a visit for the first time since recent change of ownership. What a Mistake!! Never again! Took forever to receive a menu, almost as long to get a drink. Then... 40 minutes later our order was delivered. (Keep in mind, we were pretty hungry after a long day of motorcycle riding. 400+ miles or so.) Well, my chicken Quesadillas we're not edible . I really tried, but couldn't get past the really odd and unusual flavor! I then order just a plain cheese slice of pizza because it would be the quickest route at this point. Plus, my husband was almost done with his boring mammoth burger. Anyway, my slice came out 20 minutes later! Also unacceptable! Way over cooked, dried out and no way was I eating this. Now I'm a tad upset. Next, here comes the owner to our table, well... What an arrogant and rude person. Not to mention a poor business man! I explained my dissatisfaction to him about the Quesadillas and he told me how they're made. Step by step! I couldn't even hear him anymore I got so angry because he seemed to think my gripe wasn't justified. He proceeded with his ingredients... Italian dressing, Italian spices and thyme...!??? WTH? He kept telling me the process and boasting of Italian ingredients used in the making. Never one word of Italian mentioned on the menu. I told him I'm sorry, they're awful tasting. And Quesadillas are Mexican, NOT Italian! He just argued with rudeness and arrogance of how good they are and how many he sells. Unbelievable! I held up my burned, dried out slice for him to see and every customer on the deck. No explanation by him or apologies for this either. Just an offer for something different. Needless to say I declined letting him know he just had 2 opportunities. He walked away. Then, another 20 minutes to be given our bill. How's the slice...
