Rude. Dirty. Mean. Horrible costumer service. Ignore those trying to ask them a simple question. I needed help in the restroom from my bf and also there was Only one restroom available. And its a singular person restroom so I try telling two different ladies at the counter. ShouldntShbe aabig deal at all. But these aholes turned their back to me as I tried to speak to them, standing literally right next to them with only a counter in between, they act like they can't hear me and ignored me without a word everytime I tried. Multiple times the same kind of rude response from multiple people. So seeingsas it shouldn't beba big deal beingba singular, onkyohaving the one available, and having tried telling them I needed his help a second, we just went in restroom. That's when I heafr one finally say somethong I couldn't understand as i was closing the door, so i openedbit and ask what they said, was ignored, so i explained one last time, just to have her turn her back to me once again silently so after I waited for a few with still no response from either women I closed the door again. Obviously not going to use it with the door open. So 3 seconds later, literally just as I get started, they start banging, literally non stop, trying to get in. Even after i said one second I just sat down they didn't stop. So I get up and instead of either if the ladies who had been ignoring me it's some weird old man whose been banging on the lady's restroom door and tells me to get out, that I should have told someone, and after I said I did like 3x and was ignored he tells me both restrooms are out of order and never come back. They can see I'm pregnant and we're told multiple times but the guy instead just kept asking the ladies for the phone to call the cops on me after kicking me out. What freaks here. Do notnever suggestsanyone giesghere. Tho it seems few do to begin with andanow I know why. Weirdos. Should not have to show them my belly or my stiches to get them to leave me alone or let my soon to b husband help me after informing them multiple times. I woulda gone to the men's room if that's somehow better but it was unavailable. I just needed help so I didn't pull any stiches, and he woulda been right out and came back in when I called him back. But didn't even have that much time. And def not letting my bf open the door with my pants down while someone bangs on the door trying to force their way in like the freaks they are here. No wonder it's always empty besides 90 year old men. Worthless place. Not even worth using the dirty restroom in let alone ordering something which I never received, but didn't want anymore anyways. They probably would have done something to it after causing the scene. Horrible people horrible building...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDELICIOUS, Fast, Cheap, but the restaurant is a little dirty. I'm a regular at this place. I absolutely love it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is pretty heavy, so be really hungry when you go. Portions are large, served piping hot.
Fried okra - amazing, and they give you a lot. Cowboy steak - Extremely filling, tasty, served country-style. Greens - WOW delicious. Burgers - yummy. Fried green tomatoes - SO GOOD. Salads - ENORMOUS and very tasty. Cornbread is excellent and steamed to order, so it's hot when you get it. Breakfast plates served all day.
Service is fast, friendly, and no-nonsense. Pay before you eat. A huge meal with a big slab of gravy-covered protein, cornbread, and two sides is less than $7. Throw away your own plate, leave your tray, and go.
Atmosphere: The place is run by a crew of tough Tennessee women who know how to churn out good food - fast - to a long line of waiting patrons. These gals don't play around. They're friendly, but they also know how to run a tight ship. I have seen the line go out the door and they still got my order really fast.
90% of their customers are elderly white folks and families with an uncomfortably antebellum vibe, but I'm hoping that as the word gets out, more diversity will happen. I was nervous when I first started going because I am very obviously queer (LGBTQ). I thought I might get weird looks and comments from the staff and customers, but everyone has always been nothing but nice to me. I listen closely when I'm there, and I haven't heard any quietly-spoken racist, sexist, or queerphobic comments from the staff, so that has been really nice. I feel pretty safe there at this point, as I've been a regular customer for about 6 months.
My one criticism is that there are a lot of nooks and crannies in this restaurant that desperately need wiping, vacuuming, and dusting. I saw that they have a 95 rating from the inspector, so maybe if they can do some deep cleaning, they can bring that up to 100. It's a little nauseating when I look over and see how dusty and dirty the inside AND outside of the ice cream container is, along with parts of the floor and around the drink machine. Just get somebody in there who has a sharp eye for filth and will make the surfaces sparkle. Then this place would be a hands-down...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently found this gem of a restaurant and had driven by head a few times over my 30 years in Knoxville. I'm surprised it didn't stand out to me before or no one told me about it until recently. My 85-year-old friend asked me one time if I would go and get him some food and so I stopped in and have consistently come back for about 2 months now. Definitely every Sunday after church I stop in and get our sandwiches which are awesome. I would really encourage me to come back on other days as well as each Sunday is the two ladies behind the counter. I got to meet Kathy and Carla. Both ladies have taken my order and no matter who is taking the order they both have interacted with me. I'm surprised they remembered my first name but that's always a good thing in any service industry as it makes people feel valued and appreciated. Both of these ladies are friendly, and listen well and have a positive energy about them when taking have my order and handing it to me as it's usually pay to go order. I hope people can appreciate them especially when they're both at the restaurant on Sundays. And if they happen to get them on the select days during the week that they're working, it will be a blessing. I imagine all of the workers are like Carla and kathy. But if you frequent this restaurant or have never been here before and are looking for a good price good tasting meal and some good interaction at the register, come here and you will not be disappointed. But it takes a team effort, so you will learn that the whole crew is referred to as the "Roundup Girls" that also includes the food prep and cook ladies who are named Ashley and Jaimee. If you're ordering take out especially, it would be difficult to not see their smiles and have all four of these women greet you or interact with you before you leave. Make sure to ask their names and tell them your name as they make everyone feel...
