What a delicious variety and experience! My husband and I been traveling and hiking in the surrounding wilderness and National Forest. We were half an hour away from the town of Kooskia and wanted to stop for gas and food. I was hoping there was some restaurant or bar open to get dinner as my experience thus far is that small town businesses closes early compare to the city. Got into Main Street and parked and googled restaurants that were still open. I saw two which was the cafe and a bar. I'm so thankful that the Kooskia Cafe was still open, serving and doesn't close til 9pm! Such a quaint town surrounded by gorgeous natural nature. The cafe was noticeable and easy to find. Plenty of street parking on main street as well as the adjacent street. Walking into the spacious Cafe, it is clean, well lit, with music playing and there is a restroom. The cafe present much history displayed on the walls which was cool to see and read. The dining area is large, also has an outdoor seating area and can definitely hold a few large parties and families. There is a salad bar and dessert spinning on display which I appreciate seeing what my options are to truly decide. The ladies/servers in front were helpful with my questions and even made great suggestions! I enjoyed listening to the ladies in the kitchen singing and doing their thing, such fun energy! Absolutely appreciate the variety and affordability of the menu and that breakfast is served all day. So of course I ordered us breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert to go! I didn't wait too long at all for my take out, it was dinner time, I wasn't in a rush, there was also a couple large parties dining and I ordered quite a bit of food. The restaurant is open 7 days a week and from 6am to 9pm. The current notice on the door states they are close at 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to low staffing. Definitely a delicious gem! Appreciate the business, availability, professionalism, variety, generous portions and everything was absolutely delicious! Thank you! Saw "homemade pies" on a sign outside walking by, need I say more? I had the strawberry rhubarb and it's almost unbeatable. It's has actual strawberries and rhubarb. No nasty bulk pie filling here. The sweetness is perfect and not overwhelming like every other generic pie. It's some of the best pie filling I've had. The only miss is the crust. If there was just a way to get the crisp back and brown it a little more, then it would be unbeatable. It would be a destination pie! Oh yeah, it's got an amazing underutilized outdoor patio, beautiful space.

Was stuck in a traffic jam on highway 12 because the road was blocked and came here. It was amazing food and we had a wonderful server. She seems like she really enjoys working there and was super friendly!!! I got the Bucksnort Burger which was very good! This place is amazing I will sure to be back!

I’ve eaten here a dozen times, maybe more, over a dozen years, usually on Nov deer hunting trips or just passing through on travels outside of my home in Eagle.

This is your quintessential small town Idaho diner. It’s not fast food and it’s not a culinary experience. Service has never been bad, sometimes seems a bit slow, but sometimes the place is full and sometimes not so be patient it’s hard for these businesses in small towns to staff. I’ve often had good service, never once bad.

Food is burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, tots, eggs and hash browns, chicken fried steak, etc. All has been good, none the greatest. Portions are fine, unless your my friend Pat who is 6’5”, then you add a piece of homemade pie, which is good. 2024 prices and $13-$15 a meal, $4 a beer(bottled). McDonald’s is $11, so this is a great value. Happy to pay it.

I’ll be coming back here for another 15 yrs, starting this Nov. seems like everything changes, not for the better, so I hope this place is around. Give em a try, unless you’re a foodie with attitude or a cheapskate who still thinks sit down meals are $9/plate.

PS. If hauling a trailer, easy perking on or across the street at grocery store...

Zero customer service. We walked in and they were not busy, as there was only one table that was occupied. The server, Katrina, had already taken their order as we were sitting. She saw us walk in and sit down, just two booths away from the table she was helping. We made eye contact with both her and the other female working closer to the kitchen. Not once were we acknowledged. She went back to the same table two different times to confirm their order and still failed to greet us. After 5-10 minutes of sitting, another couple walked in and sat in the booth that was between us and the other party. The server walked right over to their table with menus and introduced herself. She then turned around and went back to the kitchen. After realizing she wasn't going to help us, we got up and walked out. My suggestion is for the manager to look into customer service training. I would have been understanding if the restaurant was busy, however, it wasn't and the lack of acknowledgement that we were even sitting there is...
