Pete’s Place in Krebs Oklahoma is the prefect location for an intimate family dinner. Although Pete’s place is on the pricier side, one really nice thing is all of the food is served family styles and you can take all of your leftovers home. We always end up taking at least another meals worth of spaghetti and meatballs home. Have you ever tried Pete’s place? ##oklahoma##oklahomafoodie##italian##foryoupage##krebs

Worst expensive Italian food. Horrible ownership. Nothing was "authentic" in their misleading ad. Why use that word loosely? It's very deceiving to those who are either Italian or have lived/been in Italy.

Premise: I'm not a local and I'm 100% native born and raised Italian. We were a party of x3. We ordered 2x Lasagnas ($30 each), 1x Italian Dinner ($19), 1x Moscato wine glass, water, and 1x Sweat tea. I tried but didn't finish my meal. In the end, the Manager did not charge me after the daughter of the owner, who was very disrespectful and rude, walked away in the middle of us discussing the issues because I spoke to her in Italian after she said she was Italian. She said: "OK, you are speaking to me in Italian and that's demeaning to me so that's it, I'm done with you" and walked away and had another waitress bring the bill rightaway.

MENU: expensive and poor. No pizzas, calamari, carbonara, tortellini...

AMBIANCE: Claustrophobic! We were seated in a closet-sized room with no windows and the rolling door shut. We could barely move and felt weird.

FOOD: No rating. Unfortunately, not an "authentic" Italian food diner. I stopped after my first bite. Olive Garden or Carrabas has better (un-authentic) Italian food.

First thing served, the drinks. The water had an Earthy taste; whereas, at a true Italian restaurant, you would get bottled water that you pay for (i.e. San Pellegrino, Ferrarelle, Acqua Panna, Levissima...). The Moscato wine was ok. I was going to get an Italian "Birra" (i.e. Peroni or Moretti) but they don't have any. I was listed a bunch of local-made IPA beers that I've never heard of and are remotely similar to an Italian beer. I asked if they had anything "similar" to a Moretti ("blonde") beer but the waitress had no idea of what a Moretti was nor which beer would be a simple white wheat beer. So, I opted for a simple sweet tea. When I received the glass of tea filled with ice, I noticed a spoon in it. The tea was other than sweet so I asked the waitress to bring me a sweet tea as the one she had served was unsweetened. She stated that there were "sugar packs" and the spoon already in the cup. I asked her, "How can my tea become sweet with ice cold tea? It would have to be heated first to melt the sugar, and the add the tea with ice." She replied that they had no other way. I did not drink my tea and resorted to the Earthy-tasting water.

The salad came next, which comes pre-dressed with a ton of white vinegar. When asked to take it back, because none of us 3 couldn't eat it, due to the high level of acidic taste, the waitress stated they had pre-made dressing. I asked if they could bring a bottle of olive oil and vinegar for us to individually apply based on our subjective taste...but unfortunately, something that is normal at all Italian restaurants both in Italy or even here in the US, could not be done. We thought that was very interesting, but in a negative way.

The waitress never explained that my "Italian Dinner" meal would be served as part of the other two guests' complimentary portion prior to their Lasagnas. To explain this to you, the Italian Dinner comprises of Spaghetti meat balls and ravioli...but it also come with the Lasagna. I only found out when the Lasagnas came for the other two, and no plate for me. I asked where was my food? She said: "We served your Italian Dinner with the complimentary portion of the two Lasagnas." I asked "So you are saying that with the Lasagnas, they get to also eat what I got, all served on the same big plate?" She said yes! Granted, I barely know the other two guests but what is the point of serving me with for $19 on the same plate what the other two were getting as complimentary? Now, I was told that we would have unlimited pasta, meatballs, and raviolis...eventhough they only brought three raviolis and three meatballs at a time.

The spaghetti were washed out (not cooked together with the sauce) and overcooked and not "al dente."

The tomato sauce was disgusting! It had "oregano" in it..it was awful. Italian sauce (salsa) gets...

It's taken me a while to write this review, I actually debated on if I should. Boyfriend and I drove to Krebs mostly because I'd wanted to try the Choc beer after reading about it in a novel. Then I also get to have Italian food. Win win, right?

This establishment is not for me.

The building itself is interesting. The front room is set up nicely, and when you're taken to your table you're going to feel like you're lost. There's a lot of rooms it seems, almost getting the vibes this place used to be maybe a church?

The rooms host a smattering of tables, so you're not in a large area. It is a bit weird though; there's no music so yourself and four other tables are just eating in silence.

Service was just fine, no complaints there.

My largest qualm is the price. I do not see the value, sorry. You're given a menu and told it's served family style; certain things are served for the table to enjoy as they wish. The menu lists antipasti, salad, spaghetti and then your choice of an addition. Sounds like a good spread right?

I got the baked cheese ravioli and my boyfriend got the local sausage. I also got one of the standard Choc offerings. It's decent beer with a cool history, worth looking up!

The antipasti was a small plate with five little 2x2 slices of cheese, a handful of olives and some peppers. Not a ton of stuff. There's also garlic bread, a few slices of bread with a garlic butter on top.

Then the salad comes. It's just...iceberg. Just shredded iceberg with an oil/vinegar mixture.

Eventually we get the main portion. The raviolis are good, and boyfriend enjoys the sausage. We are also given a decent sized bowl of spaghetti to split. Foolishly, I think the spaghetti must be endless for the price point, right? Spaghetti is cheap! There are a few meatballs kicking around, and the sauce is a bit thin but what could be an issue?

I was incorrect. One bowl of noodles only. So we're at baked ravioli, a sausage, spaghetti, a little plate of nibbles, some iceberg, a bit of bread, and one beer.

With tip (I tip minimum 20% always) the total was over $80.

Gonna be honest, I just don't see it. I feel like I was being punked. I assume it's a established restaurant (it has been there a while!) and maybe there's not a lot of options in the area, but what...

The best way to describe Pete's Place is by calling it fancy Kreb's style Okla-Italian.

The ambiance and decor are very upscale relatively speaking. There is a great variety of items for sale in the lobby area including t-shirts and Oklahoma cookbooks.

Restaurant is laid out as lots of smaller rooms that have anywhere from one table to 4/5 tables per room, so it has a more intimate feel no matter where you sit. Not necessarily a great place for people watching, though.

The food is very classic Kreb's style Italian....which is Walmart style french bread with butter and garlic, a bowl of iceberg lettuce in a vinegar dressing, meatballs and lots of red sauce!

So why Pete's Place in a town fun of Italian restaurants? Glass plates, real silverware, cloth linens and glass tea cups! (I can't recall if the water cups were glass or plastic). It's just a bit more fancy than than the others using melamine and plastic.

Is it the best food? Not necessarily.....they have a few unique items on the menu like lamb fries and shrimp Alfredo, but for the most part, Roseanne's actually has better meatballs and salad. Pete's pasta is Al dente..and I like mine a little more well done. Beef raviolis are a bit odd tasting for Italian....no seasoning...actually remind me of an Asian ground beef dumpling. Pete's salad dressing has a tart punch too it that is a tad too much...I'd rather experience more flavor than just a slap of strong sour and hot spice. The antipasti plate is really quite underwhelming. 😕

They do have hot tea, which is always a treat for me. The wait staff was great....hostess table a bit stiff, but not rude.

It is obviously a great go to place for events. There was a large group of men in suits AND a bridal party both celebrating there when I dined in and, with the separation of rooms, it was barely noticable.

Price point is very high compared to other nearby places....it's not because of the quality of food, but rather for the environment. If you want a nice experience, this is the place! If you want great food for the buck, try another close by Okla- Italian spot...there are definitely plenty from...
