My friends and I love going to Hu-B’s for lunch or dinner! If someone asks “where should we eat” while out boating on the water, 9/10 times we end up docking at good ol Hu-B’s. I don’t have kids, but if I did, I’d probably sell my first-born child for Hu-B’s cheddar cheese balls. After a long day on the water, there’s literally nothing better! The drinks are great, their french fries are those perfect crispy tavern fries (you know what I’m talking about, the GOOD fries), and they have pretty decent food! Now, I do have to say that this is not a quick stop... If you’re not a patient person, or you’re in a rush, I probably wouldn’t recommend stopping here, as it’s typically incredibly busy- but for good reason! I personally don’t mind a super long wait because it gives my friends and I time to enjoy plenty of drinks, but I can also understand it sometimes being a little frustrating waiting over an hour for an order on a busy weekend or holiday. The staff are always super friendly though, and the vibe is never dull here! My only complaint about the place is the seating situation. The tables are round picnic tables, so you can’t pull up additional chairs for a larger group, and it’s hard to find two open tables next to each other since the restaurant is always packed. I’ve only had business with Hu B’s when it comes to renting their boats. I’ve never eaten there nor will I ever. We had rented a boat on Labor Day weekend, and you have to put a deposit down (which is understandable) to reserve your boat. Due to the weather we wanted to cancel or reservation. My in-laws came in for the weekend and we had 5 kids under the age of 5. When I called to cancel our reservation, I talked to the manager and he was beyond rude telling me I couldn’t cancel my reservation and that there was only a slight chance that it would rain. He said we couldn’t cancel because they don’t do refunds and it’s a holiday weekend and was very short tempered with me on the phone. Very unprofessional. We were not going to take a chance on our children getting hurt because of the weather. The manager continued to be angry and said no refund and that they turned down several people. There is nothing on their website about inclement weather policies, deposits, or refunds. We received no confirmation or anything with information on it. We have nothing to show that we were going to rent a boat besides them taking out $300. If there were that many people wanting to rent then they can rent to someone else. Not cheap enough to be bar food. Not good enough to ever go back. Our family's order was super simple and it was still bad. Service was super slow. The only time we saw our server was when we placed our order and when she gave us the check. Never got refills on water nothing. I wouldn't have minded so much if I hadn't had to watch her fawn over a table of 20 year olds and eat ice cream behind the counter. Our appetizer came out the same time as our entree. Everyone ordered cheeseburgers but me and I got the house chicken sandwich. Everyone's burger was overcooked and dry and my chicken sandwich didn't come out at all. I said something to the food runner and my order still wasn't placed until after got up and tracked down my server.
