Skipper's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in L'Anse Township

Not impressed. 1hr. For to-go food. Service was very slow. Food was ok. Definitely could of used more rice. When I asked for more, I was told that tiny little container held 2 large scoops. Ah, no. It did not. I had enough rice for a little over half of the the entree. So, I actually didn't need the extra sauce I was charged for. All this for 16.99$ served by the owner-main bartender, only bartender...... who always looks like she just crawled out of bed. What has happened to the service industry ...... I'm coming to your establishment to eat or get dinner and have a drink. And you make me feel like I'm inconveniencing you. And for a 17$ meal. You'll serve me, looking like you just jumped out of bed in pajamas & a bed head bun. With an attitude that matches that. LOVELY, GEE I SO WANNA COME BACK! FOR MY OVER PRICED FOOD, WEAK DRINK, SERVED IN PAJAMAS WITH A DOORSTOP PERSONALITY. Worst person to have as your main front of the house face to always see.

We made a stop to charge our vehicle. We are out of state and traveled through town. This is how we came across your business.

Sylvia, is a rock for your business. She immediately greeted us upon entering your establishment. It is a friendly environment and delicious food.

What I would like you to know is that Sylvia was the only waitress on staff and we would have never known. There was a good amount of people. We counted; 13 parties and one group of 11. She never showed once being overwhelmed or understaffed. She managed the bar as well the entire dining with a smile and compassion. We were served within a reasonable time and approached more times by her compared to other restaurants we visited. She is definitely worth anything it takes to keep.

As a business owner myself I would like you to know this lady is the heart and core of your business and you should do anything it takes to give it back to her as well.

.Food was really good. I got the calzone with pepperoni. It was made fresh and delicious. However, service was not greatest.

While I understand the server was young, we were left for a long time with no explanation as to why our food was taking so long, no drink refills, or appetizers.

While it was explained that the calzones take time due to them being made fresh, that explanation didn't come until after we had been sitting for an hour and someone from our party went to asked the bartender/maybe owner. We also asked about the appetizers when the waitress finally came back to our table only to be told she didn't know we wanted them as appetizers.

While I can see the confusion as we ordered all at once, I wish the waitress would have asked or clarified when we ordered off the appetizer if we wanted them as entrees or not. Especially since we did order entrees as well.

So it wasn't a complete failure. I do recommend the food and the staff was friendly despite the bad service. I would go again just not when I'm starving for...
