This shack is in the middle of nowhere, which is a good clue as to what this place is about. Walked in and saw the menu, looked good, I stood in line and got a small wiff of what I know was piss. I know what piss smells like and I can for sure tell you there was piss near the area where you get the food from. Prices were okay, we got a chicken plate with three sides and a pint of "chopped beef". We got the meat and proceeded to the sides area. The sides did not look appetizing, we got what looked like the best. We got potatoes, baked beans and corn. The potatoes were large chunks, tasteless, grainy and somewhat cold. The baked beans were okay but lacked some flavor. And the corn was simply corn from a can, like the one from the school cafeteria. Speaking of school cafeteria food, the barbecue sauce tastes just like that too; from a can. I had to drown almost everything with the sauce for it to taste like something called BBQ. I had two bites of the potatoes and stopped. The chicken was good but lacked flavor and then comes the chopped beef. So the beef stew, or what they call "chopped beef" came in a pint and I served myself some. The beef was mostly fatty chunks and drowning in greasy sauce, there was some meat but I drained most of the grease out, as well as the fat chunks and was left with about half a pint of actual meat. Ohh and the vanilla pudding is canned as well. You can see the cans if you take a trip to the restroom which is pungent of black mold. Unless you're starving and in the middle of nowhere, like we were, then come here if you want to have that "school cafeteria food" taste to reminisce about...

Shockingly Disappointed

It has that great off the beaten path, authentic hole in the wall, hidden gem look, and vibe.

That combined with the great revues had me really pumped.

I arrived at 1:00 so it would be the tail end of lunch and the food should still be fresh yet not rushed

I ordered the 1lb platter combo that ran me just under $22.00: 1 Leg quarter, 2 ribs and 3 slices of brisket  (seemed a little light for the big platter since people that got the 2 piece platters were 2/3 the size of my platter and not 1/3).

OK, maybe the quality is about to blow me away.

Got to the sides counter and found the green beans, potatoes, and mac cheese to be way overcooked, so did not bother. Grabbed beans and rice, coleslaw and potato salad.

Bummed! the beans and rice simply tasted like chili powder. the potato salad seemed to be the standard restaurant supply bulk potato salad in a box. ....the coleslaw was not too bad.

On to the meat - I mean, this is about the BBQ, right?!

And, Bummed Again! Dry, bland and very poor seasoning. BBQ sauce basically had one flavor profile - Sweet. I will say that half of the brisket was really moist albeit a little underseasoned (unfortunately the other half was overcooked dry and crunchy).

This is really a Bummer for me because I usually look for something good to take away from every place I visit. The only thing I could take away was that genuine local hole in the wall vibe, but they need to revisit and revamp their food quality!

Sorry, but I probably will not come back....and I think this is only 1 or 3 places I have said this about in...

Came in to try the bar b q but they had a fish buffet so….. The grilled fish was very good but a little salty. All the sides were excellent. I had the potato salad, beets, Mac and cheese, peas and coleslaw. They even had fried chicken on the buffet which was also very good. All of the fried foods tasted like they used fresh oil. Have noticed some places where the food looks good but the oil has a burn or other meat taste, not here. The buffet was only $11.95!!! While the fried fish was the main draw, to me the fried chicken stole the show. Went back for thirds.

One thing I didn’t like was my bottle soda was $3.15 so be aware of that. Not a bad place for lunch and I definitely will be back next time to try the bar b q!

Arrived at two pm for a late lunch. Found out they have a daily buffet until 1 pm so I will come earlier next time. Got a two meat plate, brisket and sausage. I did it think the portion size was very large. My entree and a soda were over $20. It does come with a buffet for sides. The buffet also had fried chicken and hamburger patties. Not sure I was supposed to get meat patties but I did. As I was eating they were breaking down the buffet. So much for seconds lol The food was very good and the ambience is a home town comfort food restaurant.

I felt the meat plate could have had a larger serving size but I did get pretty full so I shouldn't complain. I will...
