Oakwood Smokehouse — Restaurant in Lady Lake

Oakwood Smokehouse and Grill is a very reasonably priced Smokehouse with great food and good service.

Obviously being a smokehouse the specialty is smoked meats...ribs, chicken, sausage, beef, pork..you name it. They also have a few token items thrown in such as burgers, a salad or two, and some appetizers that could double as a meal. But you really come here for the meats.

The service is quick and dependable, though much of the time you will be waiting to be seated. There is rarely not a wait for supper. Being in the location that it is, though, you'll typically get an older crowd early, and a gen x and millennial crowd later.

The prices are reasonable (within the $10 to $18 range). There are typically specials early in the week, with combo meals leading the way.

The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, friendly and inviting.

The food itself is very good, if somewhat limited in selection. If you've been to another BBQ place then you pretty much already know what's on the menu. The smoked ribs are not the best I ever had, but they are quite tasty and you definitely need the wet naps afterward.

My family & I visited yesterday, the food tasted good & the service was great. Our waiter Charlie went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our visit.

However, I was a bit disappointed when the young man who brought out our food was wearing his mask under his chin, exposing his mouth & nose. He talked directly onto our food. Being that I work in the medical field (in the middle of a pandemic) all I could see was germs being served to us on a plate. I was going to send it back but then I looked towards the kitchen & realized, very few were wearing them properly. Needless to say, I didn't really enjoy my experience here.

I went to Olive Garden on 466 last week, walked to the bathroom & glanced in the kitchen & everyone was wearing their masks correctly & gloves. Great place to meet for lunch or dinner but best to go a little later or earlier than normal because they are very busy at regular meal times. Reasonable prices, large portions, good food, friendly service. You can order a lunch portion for dinner if you have a smaller appetite or order the dinner portion and doogie-bag the remainder for lunch the next day. We always take family here when they visit. Booths and larger tables are available for larger groups but best to go at least an hour or two past regular meal times if you have a large group as this place is popular.
