I was traveling between Kinzua Dam and the Bridge, and read online about the pierogies here. I wandered in up to the bar, and a very nice lady took my order within a minute of me being there. Overall i was waiting probably about 20 minutes for my food. The atmosphere was relaxed, everyone was friendly, and the other customers all seemed to be getting helped in a timely manner.
I got the sour cream & chive pierogies, and I wanted to try the breaded shrimp, but they were out so I got the pulled pork sandwich instead. Honestly my very first impression of the food was "yeah this is alright". The pork was a little dry and the pierogi was a pierogi, though admittedly it was maybe too hot still to really enjoy. So i took another bite of the sandwich with the pickle, and continued onto the bridge.
After a few minutes of driving, it hit me: the food was actually really flippin' good. Once i got into the sauce and toppings on the sandwich, the flavors went really well together and the dryness of the pork was perfectly fine. Honestly I wouldn't let that deter you from trying the sandwich, as it could've just been just that particular batch and the time of day, and it was absolutely delicious otherwise. I still had a few bites left when i got home that night, and absent-mindedly nuked it in the microwave for a minute and a half. The pork got REALLY dry after that, but i still finished it because it still tasted good.
As far as the pierogies, I was left with the realization that I apparently had a pierogi-shaped hole in my soul, that these wonderful pierogies had filled. They had a nice little crunch on the bottom and the potatoes were creamy and had that texture of being actually real. The drive to the bridge was only 20 minutes, but I pulled over halfway there to eat a couple more because I didn't wanna wait.
I hope to be in the area again next summer, and I will definitely make sure to stop here for lunch or dinner. I tipped kinda high for how much i spent, and I have absolutely no regrets, it...
Read moreDefinitely a great spot for travelers passing through, but seemed a popular spot for locals as well! Just passing through from Toronto back home to Maryland, and found the perfect stop to fuel up on some food! I was most impressed with our waitress who was juggling pretty much everything — she was very friendly, and managed her time between tables really well (it was fairly busy for a Tuesday evening). The food was all great, and I’m glad I got to finally try New York’s pizza logs. Shrimp Mac n Cheese was a little greasy but delicious. Portabella & Swiss was nice, simple and juicy, and the boneless hot honey wings were great....
Read moreThis is the second time we have been here. The first time was recommended by a local business owner, said burgers were awesome. Today, the local places in kane were closed, so we ventured back here. Omg, fried mushrooms didn't even last before I got a pic, perfect crispy. Anyone can make good fried chicken for a sandwich, but the bun was perfectly grilled with fresh produce and many choices of cheese. Wings were crispy and meaty, just like a wing from buffalo should be. Bartender was sweet and very friendly. We will definitely be back more often when we come...
