The Crawfish Pot — Restaurant in Lafayette

Prior to the following experience I would have given this place a 5 star rating. I have frequented The Crawfish Pot for several years and have always enjoyed being able to drive through and pick up the perfectly seasoned crawfish. Through the years I have recommended them to many friends and acquaintances. However, Tuesday night, March 15, I picked up my customary 5#'s, charged on my credit card, tipped the person who handed me the bag, in cash, drove to Adriens to get catsup and horseradish. When I arrived home I grabbed the bag from the carpeted front floorboard but instead of getting into my house with the eagrly anticipated crawfish the bottom of the bag broke open spilling crawfish in my car. Rather than enjoying the crawfish I spent the next couple of hours trying to insure that my car would not forever smell like rotten crawfish. The following afternoon I went into The Crawfish Pot and politely explained to the two young men there what had happened. I stood for awhile in silence after stating my case, looking from one to the other, before I even got an, "I'm sorry M'am". Finally one of the boys said he had been told they ran out of plastic bags Tuesday night. Customers should have been advised of this before placing an order and if they could get the crawfish home safely, no problem. Unfortunately, I was not offered that option. I am not saying I will never go there again but you can bet I'll personally check the bag they hand...

I've come here twice now and will not be coming back. The first experience was last year and it was decent. I went back a week and a half ago and thought everything would be good again until I made it home. The food was under seasoned which I thought could have been from it being early and possibly the first boil. But then when I dumped the bag, it was full of scraps like they scraped the bottom of the pot to make up my 3# bag. I ordered a cup of mushrooms and 2 extra orders of potatoes (4 total) and the total was under $30 dollars. I gave a couple dollars for a tip for a total about $32. I checked my bank statement today and noticed they charged me $54.15!!! That's over $20 dollars more than the total with the tip. I might not have noticed this if I didn't check my account due to frivolous spending over the weekend. I checked my account after the purchase but not after the final amount posted. I left a message for them to contact me today when they get my message so that we can try to settle this situation before I dispute the amount with my bank. BIG AND SEASONED JUST RIGHT! I went on a Tuesday night (2.99 per lb night!) got there at 7:55 expecting to be turned away bc there were like 14 cars in drivethru....so i went inside to order and there were 6 deep in line to order inside. So, bc i drove from like 12 miles away to get the special and it was five mins til closing - I was worried that they'd be out. NO PROBLEM! They filled all orders even tho' it was past closing time. I ordered 2 7-lb orders and potatoes, sausage, corn and dip. TIPS: don't wait 'til last minute because there will be a wait. Also, if ordering dip, bring something sturdy to put your dip containers in for transport - they have no small bags, the lids are flimsy and three of tbe five I ordered spilt in the large bag they had to use. TASTE: Excellent! FRESHNESS: Very! Stayed hot 'til we could get home and eat them. PRICE: OMG seriously? 👍👏👏👏 $2.99 a lb on Tuesdays? SIZE: Hubba Bubba slap-yo-mama bigggg and uniform, no peewees in the bunch at ALL....
