This place is probably just what you might expect.
A local watering hole. I was taken there by a local, and instantly recognized the hundreds of similar places I have frequented in my life. It felt like home.
The selection is pretty spartan, but they had a 10 year Macallan and some Maker’s Mark. The beers were the standard domestic offering, with perhaps 1 or two microbrews.
From what I heard the food is quite good, and lots of locals come here for meals as much as a drink.
The main bar area is very small with some dubious PC based gambling programs, which I suspect are not entirely in compliance with local gaming law, but hey, to each their own.
There was also a lot of outdoor seating and some covered areas that seemed to be accumulating random furniture brought in by locals.
All in all, relatively friendly, and a quite good “dive bar”. That was by no means meant in a negative light.
The main downfall was their lack of glassware for drinks, which was explained away by a local “they don’t have the proper dish washing setup”.
This seems odd to me, as they need some sort of scullery to wash the food dishes, but mayhaps it’s just very small.
PROTIP – Bring in your yeti and the barkeeps usually can be persuaded...
Read moreWe went here a few days ago while vacationing in Lago Vista. Four adults just looking to grab a beer and grab a simple bite to eat. The establishment is about what you'd expect from looking at the pictures of the outside - nothing fancy, but that's just fine. They have a little patio out back, bar area, and restaurant area. We walked through each area and waited briefly for somebody to direct us to a seat (or at least tell us to sit down), with nothing. There were only a couple folks at the bar, but the bartender didn't acknowledge us. We walked out to the back patio where there was a party of about 10-people, but no staff. As we walked past the kitchen, we noticed there were two teenage cooks in the kitchen. A couple seconds later, somebody (not sure if it was a customer or a worker) walked past and said something to the effect of "Good luck getting your food - they're swamped with that party outside". Of 10 people? So that was it - we left. If you can't handle 10 people at the restaurant, you...
Read moreHave driven by this place hundreds of times, never stopped, made the mistake of stopping in instead of speeding up today. Went during lunch, place was nearly dead when we walked in, with 3-4 more tables by the time we left. Service was indifferent. Had to hunt down our own silverware. Had the food been just ok, would have given it 2 stars. However, the food was abysmal. While I recognize this is supposed to be bar-style food, the food here was more likely to be found at a bad carnival. Everything was swimming in grease, the fries looked and tasted as if they were slowly boiled in oil. Limp and soaked in grease. Ditto for onion rings. Same with kids corn dog, slow simmered in oil instead of fried. The BLT should be renamed as the BBLT (butter, bacon, lettuce, tomato), the bread looked and tasted as if it was totally submerged in butter before toasting on the griddle. Ditto for kids grill cheese. No one really ate much of their food, even the kids protested. Our son who loves french fries barely...
