The name should be Famous Cracklings! Yes, this is why I cannot go through Lake Charles at no time without stopping and getting some cracklings to go. I am from Houston and was introduced to this place some time ago and immediately was hooked! They have three types of cracklings: regular, chicken, and that wet! Yes that’s how they call it. That wet! It is the regular crackling soaked in this spicy 🌶️ hot sauce that makes the crackling melt in your mouth! It is so good that you may want to stop eating it because of that heat but you keep popping them in your mouth due to the goodness! Because I am on the road, I also will get some boudin balls, a pulled pork sandwich, or a sausage sandwich. 🥪 These items are snaked to perfection as well. You can drive up to the window and order or go inside and there is a sitting area and restroom. You can also get cold items to go as well. Now the only problem I have with the place is it hires young people to take your orders and they are terrible! This is as of recently in my last two visits in 2025! Like have no people skills. I went inside to look at the cracking and the line in the drive through was and usually long. Oh something to remember when ordering is the cracking comes by the pound. One pond cost around $24.99. You can buy a quarter or half a pound and even ask for a little more than a half a pound etc. it’s not a whole lot when you look at it but don’t cheat yourself and get up the road like me and say, “I should have gotten more!”😆 now I start off with a pound of each period! You won’t regret it, I promise! 😉 Another key is when you eat down that wet, you can add some regular to the depleted bag and shake it to wet up some more! Now it may not be as soaking as the original but that flavor gets all on the regular and makes for more good eating with a lot less heat. Lastly because I am always passing through I have to plan my trips so I come during times of operation. They open at 9:30 am and closing around 6:00 pm I think. Not too sure of the closing. Not...

Yesterday, the server behind the counter was extremely unwelcoming. While she was scooping my cracklins, I noticed that she bent the scoop down as if she was going to dump some of the large number of crumbs out but then changed her mind and placed them in my bag instead. When I arrived home, I decided to take my food scale out and weigh the crumbs. The crumbs alone weighed 4 oz, or 1/4 pound of crumbs. I spent $24.99 on a single pound of cracklins, feeling cheated out of $6.25. One occasion heading south on hwy 14, I passed by the first driveway entrance with the intention of turning into the next one for the drive-through service. At the same time, I passed, the employee put down one orange cone to block off the entrance. I slowed down to turn in, hoping that he would understand that I was a bit stuck. At that point, he started yelling at me that I needed to go through the other entrance. This individual was indifferent to the fact that he was making me pass the location on a busy road to find a reasonable spot to turn around, as he was too inconsiderate to lift a single cone for a period of ten seconds. Although I enjoy your cracklins, in light of the numerous negative experiences I have encountered with your service, you are not deserving...
Read moreFirst time going based on a recommendation for their cracklins. We arrived at 4pm & the indoor area was closed with only drive-thru operating. I was looking forward to trying their cracklins but was quickly disappointed because they were cold and the flavors was just ok.
Location: off the road. Can find by gps. Private parking with limited spots.
Service: they were okay. They had a sign on their drive-thru window thar gave prices for 1/4 lb, 1/3 lb, 1/2 lb and 1 lb cracklins but when we ordered 1/3 lbs the girl at the window looked completely confused and we ended up getting less than 1/4 lb.
Price: we only tried the cracklins and they are definitely overpriced. $25/lb where other places are $21-23.
Food: The sauced cracklins ended up getting tossed because they were completely cold & just didn't care for the seasoning. I think some ppl will love the seasoning and others won't because of the heat, just...
