Shirley's Restaurant — Restaurant in Lake City

The food was actually good and that's going to be the only reason this review gets two stars. Upon walking in it is super busy and there are no tables available which is fine however multiple servers will continuously walk by you and tell you "sit anywhere you like". After the third server said that to us we told them there are no available tables; they then looked over at tables that still have not been cleared off that had people's leftover food and dirty dishes on the table. She kind of stared at me like I was stupid like I was expected to sit down at a dirty table I then asked her if the table could be cleared and she got an attitude, then wiped it down very sloppy. When we sat down we all had syrup all over our arms. I ran to the bathrooms and got napkins because the servers did not want to be bothered. After I ordered a water my water tasted like straight dish soap, my daughters did too. If you eat here make sure you check your drink before you start taking big gulps of it. The servers are super busy they maybe came back to our table once or twice we rarely ever saw the server. Don't expect to get refills on your drinks. I'm super disappointed as I live in lake City and I have been told that this is such a great restaurant, perhaps I went on a bad day for them. It was a weekday so I didn't think it would be that busy but this was just crazy I've never been to a place that expects you to sit down with old dirty dishes sitting on a table with sticky syrup all over. The food was pretty good I will give them that. The fried green tomatoes is the best thing on the menu the price point is pretty decent but not decent enough that we deal with sticky tables and soap in our water. We were recommended to Shirley's by several people so we were excited to give it a try.

All in all, there was Great and "eh" but we will be going back. If you want a great burger, stop here.

I ordered the BLT with broccoli and my husband ordered the cheeseburger with fries.

The waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The decor was funky and fun. Although the place was far from dirty, a deep cleaning wouldn't hurt.

The pop was crisp and ice cold and came quickly as did the waitress. Despite being VERY busy at lunch time, we were immediately waited on. Food took a bit but again, they were very busy so it wasn't too long.

The BLT was mediocre. I always order them at diners and this was average simply because there was very little bacon. Otherwise it was good. The broccoli was the only part of the meal left barely touched. It was dry, unseasoned with a slightly brown tint (from being frozen I'm sure). Although I am sure it is not what most people order here.

The cheeseburger (which the waitress recommended) was amazing. Exactly what you would hope to find in a highly recommended local diner. It is not a surprise the cook goes to the local meat market and hand picks the meat every morning.

Checks came quickly and paying was no fuss. Everyone seemed happy with their plates and despite being full, no one seemed to be waiting for service.

The pork chops have been recommended twice so that is on the menu for next time...just not with a side of...

This place is so delicious! I went this morning for breakfast and this afternoon for lunch. The food is amazing and staff are very friendly and make you feel valued. The only 2 negatives was there wasn't enough space this morning because it was so jammed packed (they should definitely expand here if they could) & I feel there should be a cashier because it took sometimes to even get my order in to go this morning.. but understandable with it being so jammed packed. I really wished I had taken a photo of the sausage biscuit I got this morning to display a photo...but boy howdy that thing was absolutely delicious!! It was LITERALLY the best sausage biscuit I have ever eaten. Doug was our waiter this afternoon and he was absolutely THE BEST! He was so attentive and so kind. I definitely recommend him for your waiter because I recieved the best experience from him. I order a hamburger and fries and my kids order a cheeseburger & fries and Corn dog & fries. The food was so delicious and the burger was so delicious. The temperature and the time it took was excellent. We werent waiting long at all.. with hungry kids that's a big thing for me.
