Beach Bar — Restaurant in Lake Saint Croix Beach

The Beach Bar is a treasure. Tucked into the St.Croix valley, and just a few miles north of the town of Afton. This is NOT a "yuppie boater bar" in the least. This is a local working class type place, with prices that reflect it. Great bar fare, great pours, and a friendly crowd with good service. Try their Bloody Mary, they make a really good one! Do not be put off in the summer, when the front parking area is full of motorcycles. They all blend well at this place. It beats the "nose in the air" crowd that is typical Afton boater hangout. A night I will never forget!! We rode in on motorcycles at night in pouring rain, wet cold and frazzled and truly found the kindest group of people on the planet! Greg offered a safe place to park the bikes, Janelle called and found us local lodging, gave us a ride there and back to move the bikes and when we left found that Taz had paid for our pizza and the bartender was wonderful! Their kindness turned a horrible night into one that touched my heart and will never forget. this this restored my faith in humanity and the kindness of strangers and I will be forever greatful! I'm visiting from out of town for work and needed a place to get a bite to eat after traveling all day. This place was the only place open. The bartender was incredibly unfriendly. We got the impression that we were not welcomed. In fact, when my friend asked about the beer on tap, she said she couldn't really tell what it is. I imagine if you're a local you can have a good time there but if you're from out of town I recommend trying to arrive earlier so you can find a friendlier place where they're used to...
