Back Forty Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Lake

First things first, upon entering the door my wife and I were warmly greeted and immediately led to a hand sanitizing station. In these times it was a welcome sight to see them taking safety seriously. Now on to the food. My wife and I partook in the seafood buffet which was very good in my opinion. The fried catfish (whole and strips) was very fresh as were the fried shrimp. The buffet also featured fried frog legs, boiled shrimp (hot and cold), baked fish, chicken tenders and a wide assortment of sides and other dishes that I was not able to try before I reached my personal limits. Our server was very nice and kept up stocked with drinks, condiments as well as conversation. Overall the food was good and there was a nice variety. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting and safety measures were in place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I truly enjoyed our outing at The Back Forty restaurant and will definitely be going back...

We should have known by the condition of the parking lot. This place is nothing fancy...However, family insisted we try it. We arrived about 6:40 pm Saturday, 1/3 of the buffet had large pans sitting empty. We asked and were told they'd run out of several menu items due large crowds earlier. No veggies, not even a green salad; only fried foods. Dessert station only had 2 options (banana pudding and chocolate pudding)! Service was good but food could be better. Fried fish and fried shrimp were real good. Lemon pepper fish didn't taste right, maybe sitting too long not sure but we arrived after 7pm, stuffed crabs & shrimp were gummy and don't taste right, maybe their supplier. And they need a salad bar and turnip greens. We eat at the fish house at Union for the exact same price and it includes salad, turnip greens etc. Don't care for sitting on those hard benches, thsnk goodness had some chairs.
