The Shannon Mercantile — Restaurant in Lakeport

This place is a scam. Nice grounds, beautiful atmosphere but service is poor and you don’t receive what you are promised. I became a wine club member here after my first visit. One of the very few features of their wine club membership is “complimentary tastings for 2.”

I came back to visit a month or so after signing up to be a member with the intention of utilizing my 2 complimentary tastings and also purchasing some canned wine. To my dismay, I was told “we cannot honor your free tastings under your wine club membership because we are serving pizza”.

When I asked how serving pizza could influence my free wine club tastings I was told “we don’t do tastings during our events because we get too busy but if you came in earlier today you could have received your free tastings”

One of the main benefits of becoming a member is being able to visit from time to time and receive the free tastings. The fact that they don’t serve wine club tastings during events is an absolute scam and poor service. Keep in mind they seem to have events regularly during the week. One has to ask “when do we actually get to receive this wine club benefit”?

We cancelled our membership on the spot and definitely won’t be returning. Usually when you become a wine club member at a winery you are treated a bit better and get some perks. None of these things apply to the Mercantile. Place is a scam. Don’t...

Visited for the first time recently. The ambiance and venue is very nice. Their tastings are $20 for four small pours, and they also have glasses for around $12. I have been to some small wineries in the area where tastings are free, so be mindful that this place is more in line with Napa wineries or with a bar/restaurant. I enjoyed all the wines, nothing super standout, but enjoyable, and there was good service when sitting at the bar. This spot is actually pretty cool. I usually visit the Lakeport area every so often to visit family. And these tasting rooms have been popping up in the past recently years. I saw this place last time I visited but didn’t have a chance to stop by until this time. I loved their wine..
