I am 60 years old and grew up with a restaurant here that I love and have been coming here for over 40 years. We've made annual visits with the family met my mother here once or twice a year and every time we went to New Orleans medical or not give us a reason to stop and eat very well or just light. Seems recent management did not advise any one of their changing recipe 2 years ago using hot sauce as they brag here on my bad review 2 years ago. They claimed to have used hot sauce to fry everything. And I told him that I witnessed Chipotle's by Walmart and how they close because in 2 months they had five ambulances for the same reason. Us people in our 60s can I eat the way we did when we was 20. I had shrimp there in that last visit at Spars restaurant in Des allemands. When I've been into my shrimp on a bun it was orange yellow and cooking on the inside of the shrimp as they were going in my mouth we barely made it outside to the my mama's Toyota when she threw up at her driver side door in the parking lot. Neither of us could finish a small sandwich where there was only six shrimp on my bun. So I truly miss you people for the last 2 years hoping to come and find a reply from you all that y'all change back to your original recipe. I have to question this now is your new management hacking because it seems my account was blocked with a lock on my last post to you guys where we discussed this in here. I gave you all this three-star for the food quality search us that visit you guys deleted my post with the bad review and changed to a four star. So really how naive can you be under New Management there. People see this reply to a review with no explanation. My review is hidden and you sitting here thanking me for a four star. You should thank me for saving a few eyes and teaching you where you did not know better that you might kill someone in your restaurant serving hot sauce to people that don't know. You have to learn in your young age that people with coronary and respiratory problems cannot eat hot sauce battered shrimp. I myself personally did not have issues with that it was the fire that came out of me for 3 hours 45 minutes later when I landed home in Houma. I will continue to send bad reviews if you continue to delete my post. This post here deserves human logic clear action from you because I fell in love with this restaurant and visit it for well at 40 years I'm entitled to some rights here and should know and I'm expecting you to come back and read this and hopefully tell me that you've changed back to your original recipe and I am totally welcome here. As far as that last visit y'all should always a meal but I'm not expecting that I'm just truly missing the good times we had eating there with family and the parties we had as well as the food itself I've always put your food quality above all the rest and the texture and freshness is the reason why I'm here saying this how I miss you guys and this is made me kind of sad from the history that I've had with this place. The last warning if you cannot answer me it is because of your guilt and even you know I'm right or you did not change the recipe I'm hoping you answer me and say you do have original recipe. I will copy this and repost it if I see you blocked and deleted this again. That will prove to me that you're younger management with your marketing chain philosophy you're trying to ignore your responsibility to customers. I will continue...
Read moreSpahr's Seafood Restaurant has its original location in Des Allemands, Louisiana where they quickly became famous for their Cajun food. Spahr's was opened up back in 1968 as a service station and bar by Bill Spahr and his wife Thelma which grew into a full service restaurant. In 2002 the original restaurant was lost to a kitchen fire and in 2003 Spahr's Downtown was opened in Thibodaux, LA. In 2006 Spahr's Seafood was rebuilt in Des Allemands on the slab of the original location. In 2016 Spahr's at the Station was opened in Galliano, LA to establish the third location of Spahr's. In this review we will be focused on the Des Allemands location trying out their Cajun Appetizer Sampler and the Fish of the Day. To kick off my meal I enjoyed indulging in a heaping plate of food with their appetizer sampler platter which included their onion sticks (onion rings), mini crab cakes, hush puppies, crawfish pies and crawfish queso. I barely had any room left in my belly for the main course when it arrived but the amazing looking fish of the day which was a black drum smothered in a crawfish sauce re-ignited my appetite so I was able to totally destroy that dish as well. Overall the succulent crawfish that were part of both of these courses were the star of the show! The food isn't the only thing that makes this place so good as they definitely give you a fun atmosphere. With Louisiana themed decorations everywhere and their gift shop that offers their own hot sauces, spices, t-shirts and plenty of other options, Spahr's is a great spot to indulge in some of Louisiana's favorite Cajun food. If you are looking for some fun as you enjoy your Cajun food then eating at Spahr's Seafood Restaurant in Des Allemands, LA might be what your need.

Read moreWe made our way out to the bayou and stopped at Spahr’s Seafood Restaurant in Des Allemands for a late weekday lunch. When we walked in, the dining room was about half full—some locals, some travelers just like us. We were greeted right at the door and quickly seated at a table in the back with a perfect view of the swampy bayou, which my mother absolutely loved.
We kicked things off with the sampler platter appetizer, a fun mix of crawfish bread, hush puppies, fried onions, and mini crab cakes. It was the perfect start to the meal, and the crawfish bread in particular was so good I could’ve eaten an entire plate of just that.
For our entrée, the three of us shared the Seafood Platter, which came loaded with catfish, shrimp, stuffed crab, and fried oysters. It was more than enough to satisfy us, though I did leave wishing I had room to try more of their menu. That just means I’ll be coming back soon to sample the other dishes.
The service was attentive, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere added to the whole experience. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping at...
