We came here once before and really enjoyed it so on our travels we went a little out of the way to come back and try it again .
The food here is really good. Ordered a burger and a cheese steak but the highlight of dinner for me is the mountain man gravy. They have mountain man fries which is an order of fries topped with a brown beer gravy and chunks of Cooper sharp cheese. In my opinion they are incredible. I'm not typically a fan of fries with brown gravy, but this gravy has a taste of beer to it which is not overwhelming, but noticeable and delicious. You can just get the order of fries that comes with your sandwich made into mountain man fries for a small upcharge if you don't want a whole appetizer size order. This trip I asked to have my regular cheesesteak (which is made with Ribeye by the way) made into a mountain man cheesesteak with gravy and Cooper sharp added to the steak.
Our waitress was such a sweetie and very attentive. However, she did forget to ask us if we wanted desert which we did.
We got a peanut butter pie to go which looked delicious.
The only disturbing thing I did witness was one of the other waitresses that wrapped up the clean silverware into napkin bundles (the tops of the silverware sticking out)had accidentally dropped one. She then picked it up and put it in with the rest of the clean silverware. Not something that will keep me from coming back but will definitely make me wipe down my silverware...
Read moreWow. All I can say is Wow. First of all, the lodge itself is lovely. I stayed in a double room with my mum. Two beds and a bathroom. Very basic room but it was fine. There is a lovely eating area and a fire pit. Wifi is available in the common area and the signal is strong.
I was at D&D during very bizarre times - under Martial Law and 24/7 curfew and wow did they go above and beyond. Bobby, the owner was not in the country and could not get there. He was in constant contact with all of us there and was doing everything he could to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The staff were incredible and the food was great. Specifically, Rosa and Lucy who made great meals as well as Ernesto and Oscar who helped a lot too. They ensured that they stocked up on food when we suspected that the Martial Law would come into effect so that we would not go hungry.
I wish that I was there under different circumstances so that I could have done all of the activities that the area has to offer. We did get the opportunity to do the early morning bird watching with Fredy which was great. His eye sight and ability to mimic bird calls is incredible.
We also went to Pulhapanzak Falls and did the walk behind with Jorge. This was an EXTREME adventure but one I will remember forever. Jorge is also an incredible person who truly made our stay remarkable.
I cannot say enough good things about D&D, I just wish I was there under different...
Read moreThis was the worse dining experience of my life. I was here with my family the week of July 4th. Our waiter took our orders and was barely seen again. We ordered appetizers, salads and meals and after over an hour, had not received any of these items.
Take out items were being brought out left and right, it seems in lieu of the meals of those who were actually in the restaurant. Our waiter would not even look at us. The owner or manager kept walking by out table, we were in the front room, and did not ask how we were doing. We complained about the wait and she said maybe our waiter left. Excuse me? Don't you know where your staff are? She said sometimes she doesn't know if there will be a lot of customers or not. She did not apologize or offer a discount but kept on blaming the lack of service on other entities, even us, for not grabbing her attention earlier. I told her it wasn't our fault.
We ended up taking the food to go and when we got back to where we were staying, the baked potato with the extra butter we requested had no butter, the salad dressing was the wrong kind, and the food was mediocre. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else unless you like to be ignored and blamed for things not your fault. I'd rather eat rocks than...
