Figured I would share an honest review as the server we had yesterday stated they've never had a complaint regarding the food, however it was not just the food that was terrible. Upon walking into this fine establishment we were greeted by a not so friendly hostess. We were seated in a large section next to a window, the size is only relevant because the air conditioner was not working and there were 2 stand up air conditioners across from eachother in this large room that were struggling to cool the area. Keep in mind it's florida and it's already hot (89°) Our waitress came and introduced herself and asked if we were ready to order and we got the saganaki for an appetizer. It was terrible. Weird flavor and strange gritty consistency and not served with pita bread but with Cuban bread instead. My husband ordered the acropol special, which basically came with all of the Greek staples. I ordered a half order of pastitsio and an open faced turkey sandwich I planned on taking some food the next day for work lunch. The food looked alright despite having pretty much no flavor at all and the pastitsio mostly being a gelatinous creation covered in what can be only described chef boyardee style red sauce. However upon eating the creation I was not transported to the Greek isles but instead back and forth to the bathroom for the remainder of visit at this lovely establishment. I was not the only victim of Acropol that day, my poor husband was also assaulted in the guts and this lovely couple behind us who only got hamburgers. We threw all of the food away for fear of dying or our kids getting into it and also dying. This restaurant is the edible equivalent of Jim Jones' special drink. I really believe the health department should pay a visit to this restaurant and to end this already too long and ridiculous review with a serious psa, do not bring the elderly or young to eat here. They may not survive the after effects. I am being...
Read moreWe decided to try this on advice of a friend. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. I ordered sweet tea and veal parmesan with the side option of chicken lemon soup. The soup tasted like the chicken lemon soup I've had from Campbell Soup which I have had better in a Greek restaurant here in the area. The veal parmesan was one very small piece of veal with such a little slice of mozzarella cheese on top that you could barely tell it was there. The majority of the meal is the spaghetti that comes with the veal cutlet. The sauce on the spaghetti definitely tasted like Ragu Garden Style which even had the same small pieces of vegetable just like the Ragu does. The prices on the menu for this being a special is not what I was charged and for my wife to have the veal cutlet with mashed potatoes and the chicken lemon soup, my having the veiled parmesan with the soup and a to-go of chicken parmesan with the soup plus the Ice T's came to almost $50. Their price for the Iced Teas was $4.95 which is $2 above the average for every restaurant in the area I've eaten at which is a lot. I guess they're charging that to make up for what they're claiming the prices of the special. But with tip for me paying what I did on this meal I could have easily gone to some of the other restaurants in the near area and had twice the food with better quality. I suppose that's why it seems most of the clientele seem to be over 60s. If you're up for food that tastes like something you could get them pre-made in the grocery store this works but for the price I don't see that it is worth it. I added a photo of how they poorly packaged my son's to go order. It was leaking into the bag because it was in a container that put all the contents to one side. They tried to keep it closed with saran wrap which didn't...
Read moreI came here with family while visiting Clearwater during the week. We felt like having Greek food, checked the reviews, and decided on this restaurant.
The service was excellent, the food was delicious with generous portions, and I am happy we enjoyed our experience. It looks a little worn from the outside, but it's clean and spacious inside. For a Wednesday evening, we were surprised at how busy it was.
I absolutely love the Greek salad, and I'll be back just for that. It's so hearty, and a generous portion without skimping on any goodies, like olives or feta. Everyone really enjoyed it. I also heard the soup was very good too.
The spanakopita was tasty, but could be improved with being more crispy. That's my only suggestion. My mom enjoyed her BBQ chicken. They were kind enough to replace the usual fish (I think it was basa) with haddock at my aunt's request. The moussaka and stuffed flounder were also great, I was told. And the green beans that accompanied some of the entrees was surprisingly tasty too.
An odd but still noteworthy comment is that the water is excellent. I realized I've been served so much bad drinking water at restaurants since moving to Florida, I appreciate when establishments take the time to properly filter water for their customers.
It was also nice that although we stayed there past closing time, we never felt rushed. The staff were very attentive and kind.
Although I don't live in the area myself, my relatives who do enjoyed it so much, they can't wait to go back and explore more items on the menu.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy fantastic food and service while spending quality family...
