6 Street Diner — Restaurant in Las Animas

It's the only place in town to get breakfast besides Dairy Queen. FLIES...dead and alive will harass you. The dead ones are dried up on the window sills. The half dead ones dangle from fly strips hanging in the dining area. The live ones land on your food. My order's almost never right. Like...I ordered breakfast and they forgot my bacon. Then, half an hour later, they brought me half raw bacon. I'm serious! I've eaten there dozens of times. I always get sick. I just won't go back there now. It's food for when you are absolutely too lazy to cook your own dollar store food. It's food for when you absolutely don't want to drive to La Junta. Locally owned by a large local family (so the owner told me when I complained), which accounts for the fake good reviews. It's for when any food will do. It's not the worst I've had, but really and truly, not worth paying for. If you find yourself having to eat there, try the cheeseburger with season fries or the pizza, but be prepared to wait. The pizza takes an hour, more if there is more than one pizza being baked. Check your food to make sure it's correct. Be prepared for long waits. One time, we waited over an hour for breakfast. The owner was on site. She told me it was because they had three take out burritos ordered. Besides those three burritos, we were the ONLY customers in the building and we had only ordered basic breakfasts. If they couldn't pull off three burritos and two simple breakfasts, imagine what it's like when the parking...

So I ordered pizza 1 Supreme, 1 meat lovers, I told them no mushrooms as I am allergic. Long story short I found 1 piece of mushroom under a slice of meat lovers. Now this is my 2nd bad experience in the past year I have been here. I have ate from there 4 times total. Last year at this time actually, my waitress was outside digging in a mud puddle and came in to grab my burgers as she did the cook grabbed the food back from her and told her to wash her hands as he remade the burgers and fries. But honestly even though the 2 experiences where bad the food all four times has been great. It's fresh and had great flavor so even though I had 2 bad experiences I also had 2 good ones and enjoyed the food all four times even though this time almost got me. When you order takeout, especially pizza, always check your order before you leave! Their food is delicious when they get your order right, and they're quick to fix things when they make mistakes, but if you don't check it before you leave, you'll have to drive all the way back.
