Rotolo's — Restaurant in League City

Let me start out by saying the food was absolutely delicious and we can’t wait to return! Literally was the best calzone I’ve ever had. It was handmade and simply delicious. My wife, who has gluten and dairy sensitivities, even questioned whether her pizza was actually gluten and dairy free. That’s rare because GF/DF things are usually not as good as the real deal. I want to give a huge thank you to Rotolo’s for having those options so we can enjoy this place all together as a family. The only reasons I’ve knocked it down to 4 stars is the menu and ease of ordering. I had to do a lot of digging to find out they have GF and DF options before we showed up. There was no mention of it at all on their physical menus and we had to question whether those items were still available. Also, there was no beer/bar menu readily available at the table and the server seemed annoyed when we asked about the selections saying “well, we have a full bar”. I would have also expected to see more craft options but they weren’t horrible. The only critique I have about the food was the side Caesar salad as it was drenched it too much dressing for my personal liking. First off, let me give a huge shoutout to Carlos and Spencer the Bartenders – absolutely phenomenal! Friendly, fast, and makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. These gentlemen set the bar high (pun intended) for service and hospitality. Now onto the food… we ordered the Windy City and Simple Man Deep Dish, and let me tell you – forget "Chicago Deep Dish" Deep Dish should be renamed as follow's “Rotolo’s Deep Dish” because they’ve taken the crown. Perfectly layered, crispy-yet-chewy crust, rich and deliciousnesss sauce, and with an extra extra generous amount of toppings—this is what deep dish DREAMS are made of. I was going to leave this restaurant alone, but I saw several of the self-inflated reviews. Be careful when reading some of the five star reviews here - I saw at least 8 from current employees. I would say the food is good, but I would be cautious, Ive seen servers eat directly out of the bar garnish bowls, touch food with their bare hands WITHOUT washing their hands first, put dirty silverware in the napkins, have and use unlabled food in the fridge, and I have never seen them dump out any of the old marinara, spin dip, or tomato soup in the month a I was there. There is more violations Ive seen but reading this you can get the point. I have told management about issues while I was there but they seemed not to care as nothing had ever been addressed or corrected by the rest of the staff.
