I’ll preface this by saying that the burgers at this little gas station hideout are, and have always been absolutely delicious. I was blown away the first time I tried them, and was really happy to have found such a quality burger close to home. The food tastes fantastic, and that’s still my opinion, which is why what happened today is all the more disappointing.
For some background: After being regular customers, I ordered a burger for my toddler from this location a while ago, and unfortunately the center was reddish pink. It was concerning enough that I threw his away, not wanting to risk it being undercooked. It was a one-off, but I stopped taking him to any Sharksburgers for a while.
We did a family outing to the Ronald Regan location as my husband wanted to eat there. So I decided to write in the notes to please cook the burger to an internal temperature of 160 degrees, and we gave them another try. The burgers there came out properly cooked and it regained my trust that these were fine for a small child to eat. We ate a few more times at that location, and I always ordered them the same way from then on.
Today I ordered from the Hero Way location the same way, and upon picking up my order, I was more or less lectured on how asking for the burger to be cooked to 160 was unnecessary and didn’t make sense. I was told that it would compromise the flavor of the burger and further, they had no way of checking the internal temperature anyway. I got the feeling that my request seemed annoying, so I mentioned that I asked for it in this way, to assure that it was well-cooked for my toddler. Maybe my request was silly? I’m not sure, but will be doing more research. That is how I check meat, especially ground beef, at home for my son, and what I thought was recommended by the CDC. I’m not clear why this seemed to be an issue. I was then told that in the future, just say “well-done” to save myself some typing. The interaction felt pretty rude.
In considering how it left me feeling, both in terms of food safety for my child and how dismissively my request was handled - I may well “save myself some typing” and not order from this location again. It’s unfortunate because even with the previous hiccup, this had been a favorite place...

I hadn’t been to Shark’s Burger in Leander for quite some time, so I decided to treat my family to a nostalgic favorite — five regular cheeseburgers with everything and three orders of fries. We were all genuinely excited, remembering how much we used to enjoy their food.
Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into confusion and disappointment the moment we opened our bags at home. Almost in unison, everyone asked, “What is this?”
To our surprise, the burgers had drastically shrunk. What used to be a hearty, satisfying meal now resembled something closer to a McDonald’s kids’ meal burger — minus the toy, of course. The fries weren’t much better, served in small portions comparable to a medium McDonald’s fry. To say the least, it was very disappointing.
But here’s the best part — the total cost came to just over \
54 (around \\
51 before sales tax). That means those tiny kids-sized burgers were roughly \$10 each. W O W.I’m guessing their justification for this drastic upcharge is likely “the economy,” or maybe even the ever-convenient fallback of “COVID.” But let’s be honest — it feels more like Shark’s Burger is trying to recoup their losses on the backs of their loyal customers.
If there’s a “feeding frenzy” happening, unfortunately it seems to be at the customer’s expense.
Needless to say, I won’t be going back. A real shame, because we used to really enjoy this place.
4 years ago: I got turned on to shark burgers and think they are really good. I'm giving them two stars because they made a bad choice by setting up in that Shell store which has a very bad reputation and I think is hurting their business. That store had ridiculous prices and personally I think they are ripping people off by price gouging. I've spoken to the owner of shark burgers before and he is a solid guy. I really think they should relocate because I've avoided getting burgers from them on occasion because of this shitty store. "Shark Burgers" ...you need to get out of there, its hurting...
Read moreWe've had their burgers a couple of times and they're pretty good so I decided to give their breakfast a try today. Looking at the menu before I got there it appeared they had a pretty full service alignment of breakfast tacos to choose from.
However when I got there they only had four types available they were all pre-made wrapped up sitting under a lamp. While I wanted a potato egg and cheese as one of my choices they were not available you could only get what they had already made.
I apologize that there are no pictures because I was just going to grab a quick breakfast and get on back on the road but it was actually bad enough I wanted to write a review I had no intention to doing that initially.
While the bacon egg and cheese taco claims to be bacon it was more like fatty ham it was barely cooked. Once I opened the sausage egg and cheese taco I realized none of that was even remotely browned so I think all they did was cook the stuff in a microwave.
Both tacos had cheese added and it was a mediocre amount you could barely taste it. The tortillas were doughy and again tasted like they had beenmicrowaved. I managed my way through about a third of each taco and just threw the whole thing away I would not recommend them for...
