My husband and I came in for lunch on a Friday, the place wasn’t too busy, so we figured service would be quicker and not too bad; unfortunately we were mistaken.
Upon entering, we were ignored by several staff, even upon making eye contact. After a few minutes a waitress taking food to a table told us to follow her. She sat us, told us who our waiter was, and walked away. Didn’t think much of it at first. Our waiter took some time getting to our table, we ordered drinks. For myself a hot tea, my husband a soda. Got my tea, but when I went to drink from the mug, it was horrid. Either the mug had not been rinsed off from the sanitizer they use, or it was sitting in salt water. We waited for a bit to order, and then waited quite some time for our food.
I got a salad with the grilled chicken, husband got fish and chips. Server brought the wrong salad dressing, the cucumbers and tomatoes were old and mushy… Again, tried to shrug it off.
We received our food, it was okay at best. The chicken was almost burnt, dry, and over salted. The green beans were just mush and tasted off. My husbands fries were cold and bland. We didn’t want to bother anymore, so we paid and left.
I will give warning, several hours later both husband and I are dealing with stomach aches, bloating, and feeling off. Unfortunately we will not...
Read moreInteresting place across from historical prison grounds. Clean. Average service. Several issues with service and food was below expectations. Everything was BLAND. Not even salt except on fries and green beans. Ordered best steak on menu. This is supposed to be a steakhouse, but is more like small town diner quality. First, thin and dry as round steak. Was cooked well done, so returned and was still thin and dry, overcooked. NOT a 30.00+ porterhouse! Gave us hot tea instead of coffee..then just changed one cup, no creamer as requested, had to ask for everything needed..bill, go boxes, desert, condiments, refill on coffee, etc Fish was completely tasteless. Big thick pretty cod, but maybe soaked in water too long?? No salt even in batter either to save it. Frozen fishsticks have more flavor. Long John Silvers is a better option. Burgers looked good..Green beans were surprisingly well seasoned, and slaw was great. Probably a good place to eat if stick to the diner foods and skip the low quality steaks. HyVee steaks in case are far better. Seem to cater to a lot of older residents and soldiers who are used to eating a blander diet is...
Read moreDon’t Judge By The Outside Taking into account that twenty-six people descended the premises after attending the funeral of my grandmother, I was really impressed with this restaurant. My uncle called in advance to find out if they could accommodate such a large crowd. We gave them fifteen minutes to set-up before arriving. They weren’t ready for us. I wondered if they thought it was a prank or they wanted to make sure we would actually show. This was my only complaint. The two waitresses, I wish I had gotten their names, that handle our crowd, were excellent and polite. They stayed on top of refills while filling requests. The food not only tasted good but was hot in terms of temperature. My shrimp dinner was filling and my sister, who’s a vegetarian, stated that her spinach salad was the best she had tasted in years. The generous portion of my father’s chicken fried steak dinner filled his belly to the brim. In fact, the whole posse was pleased with their meals. Overall: Although this is a steakhouse, their menu offered a varied selection...
