I'd classify this restaurant as a gastro pub, with it's high end simple menu there's really no way to go wrong with picking your dinner. We unfortunately picked a very busy, very loud night to eat in, but the waitress was absolutely a doll to deal with even in the noise. It took quite some time to get a table because they were so busy, but once we did we ordered right away and our food came super fast! The interior is very modern with a touch of country accent, and very clean. The bathrooms were clean and almost soundproof.
We ordered the ooey gooey without tomato, and with fries for the 12 year old. He absolutely loved it! I'd classify the fries as more of a fry "chip" which he described as crispy and perfect!
I ordered a side of Mac and cheese add fried chicken, and a side of cheese grits. I recieved and was charged for the full sized menu item of the mac with chicken for $22 and my side of grits. Usually I would have been upset at this upgrade in size, however the portion size that came in the bowl was four times more than I could eat in one sitting! So definitely got my money worth, and bringing the leftover home with me for a lunch tomorrow. So much food! The chicken was sooo good, breading was crispy and paired perfectly with the mac and cheese! My grits were super good too, little on the dryer more southern styled side but that's how I like my grits so I was very pleased.
My husband ordered the short rib taco meal, this was the only small problem we encountered with the whole order. The meat in the tacos wasn't warm or hot, we pointed this out to the waitress and she was absolutely wonderful about it.
All in all, the very best food I've had in Leavenworth KS and the surrounding areas! I haven't had great pub styled food like this since I was stationed in Virginia, on the coast! Definitely coming back!
Only 2 suggestions for management. It would be nice if there were a "large print" menu available at customer request. And if a "half" order of mac and cheese with fried chicken was available on the menu for $15-$18, this would give people and parents another option for smaller dinning.
Again, so very happy that we found this restaurant and I'm definitely coming back and recommending to family...
Read moreFirst time eating here. Family stopped for dinner. Initial seating attempt was outside, but we were placed near trashcan at farthest table, which was covered with flies so I immediately requested inside dining. Didn't make a scene out of it, just asked to be seated indoors. Ordered 12 wings, wife got the chicken-cheese steak (waiter stated they were out of steak), kids ordered cheeseburger w/fries. My son received 3.5 thinly sliced fries. I literally laughed out loud, but then realized this was really happening. We also ordered fried mushrooms. It was as if they dumped a bag of random mushrooms in deep fryer along with stems and other bits. Very bland and just odd. I'm 50 and have had my share of apps in life, this one was a bust. Wife said her sandwich had maybe 3 slivers of onions, basically skimpy. As we discussed our experience she tried to take up for the fact our son received 3 fries on his plate because it was a "kid's meal." Knowing the potatoes are basically the most inexpensive thing you can purchase and serve up to people left me still disturbed by the portion my kids were given. When I ordered the wings, which were large, uniformly seasoned, looked great but were very hard, (watch your teeth!) etc., I asked for ranch and blue cheese. I was brought ranch and blue cheese crumbles? This was after asking 2-3 times. Ordered a Miller Lite because the menu said $4, bill came and it was $5. You can't make this stuff up.
Weirdest thing though, as we sat there people were falling over themselves to wait in line to be seated for this stuff, LOL. It was the old dude crowd, most likely the place is close and easy for them.
Although we will never go back I've got some helpful tips: Don't spare any expense on POTATOES for your customers. Try to at least get uniform/quality mushrooms that don't have sticks, stems and other debris in the oil. Parking lot smelled of rotten grease and trash, which probably contributed to fly population observed. Develop and implement a plan to deal all those flies. *I don't usually take the time to leave...
Read moreI ate at The Suburban ,6-9-2023, last night. The food wasn’t too bad. I had the honey chicken fried chicken which was awesome. . I opted for the wedge cut fries that came out barely warm. The green beans were not impressive tasting either. My friend I talked into going there had the suburban burger that came out perfect medium well and said it was good but the fries were like mine, not hot but barely warm. During the almost 45 minutes to be seated after originally told 15 minute wait for a table, I noticed a couple that walked right in to get a table immediately cause the man of the couple was either an employee there for dinner or his wife. Saying that cause he was wearing an employee shirt but all the waitresses were talking to her swooning over the recent birth of the baby she was carrying but barely spoke to him. They came in after we were there about 10 minutes. The drink glasses for soda or tea are minimally sized and refills had to be asked for more than once instead of automatically getting attended to by the wait staff during the meal. I’m sure the waitress was not happy with my minimal tip which normally any restaurant I go to, I tip rather well but only if the wait staff deserves it. This was the first time I was a patron at this establishment and my last due to the favoritism plus unimpressive sides and unattending wait staff during the meal. The mens bathroom experience is another issue. There is a push button flusher, yuck, a soap dispenser was fine cause was touchless but the hand towel dispenser has a handle instead of touchless, yuck again!! The faucet to wash hands was loose. I would think a high dollar establishment would have more thoughtful devices in place with food safety in mind for both flushing and hand washing. I am very experienced at food safety and means available for a better experience are out there to be had instead of what was available...
