Recommended to me by my best bro, so we met up to have breakfast. As someone with gluten intolerance, I usually have a plan whenever visiting these types of down home diners: eggs, bacon, home fries, just warn the server ahead of time. Instead, after informing the server of my restrictions, I received the best news I could ever hear in a down home diner: our server also had gluten intolerance, and the cooks already knew how to cook for her; they had gluten-free English muffins, and their baker also makes GF muffins (check availability.) This opened up all the Eggs Benedict options, my one weakness. The shaved steak Benedict caught my eye. And I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and quirky, excellent experience; cannot wait to come again!

Just catching up on past dinning experiences. I'll be visiting NH in 2 weeks and going back to this wonderful breakfast dinning experience. Can't find a thing I'd change. Coffee was very tasteful, service great, and the meals were super delicious. Can't say enough about this place. Definitely my fave breakfast spot between Florida and NH. Final thought. Don't let the exterior fool you. When you walk in the doors you've walked into a unique environment. Just ask the chicken's!

Unassuming on the exterior, the Hen House theme inside is cute and old school 100%. I had the chicken club (I know sounds like a bad pun but true) with hand cut fries and it was fabulous. The service is also super friendly. I loved this spot. I wish I lived closer so I could stop in more often. A neat littel place with a yesteryear vibe in the greatest of ways.

My overall experience at the Gen House Cafe in Lebanon, ME was great. The food was amazing (I had 2 pieces of French Toast with Strawberries and whipped cream). The French toast is made from bread that is thicker then Texas toast bread (or in a restaurant French toast bread). Not sure where they get this bread or if it's made in house, but the combo of the bread being so thick and whatever they put in their French toast batter will blow your mind. I've had a lot of different French toast's from a lot of different restaurants and I've gotta say the Hen House Cafe makes a 8 out of 10 on the Strawberry French toast. My waitress was extremely friendly and it seemed she went out of her way to make sure I had the best possible experience. There was NOTHING the waitress could of done better... I'll put it that way. If your in Lebanon, ME or driving through on Rte. 202 and looking for a great breakfast then stop in at the Hen House Cafe (right off Rte. 202). This is another breakfast / lunch spot that I highly recommend the...

We went here for breakfast, we had heard it was good and we' were excited to try It. Walked in, nobody helped us. We asked someone if we could just sit at the bar, they said they thought so. We walked over to the bar and sat down. The servers were walking around filling the others coffee, not ours. Then finally we got coffee and menus. We sat and sat and sat. The gentlemen next to us had left and two more gentlemen sat down. And we sat and sat. The waitress took the two (new) men orders. At this time we had it! We told the waitress we were leaving. She said she was going to take our orders too, but at that time it was way too late! We had sat for a half hour or more! Our breakfast did have a happy ending tho, we went to another restaurant and had a wonderful breakfast The waitresses were very friendly and the...
