If I could give Ahadu more than 5 stars I would. This is such a special place! The owner Teddy really cares about his customers and trying to make each experience special. He goes above and beyond as an owner. He will check in with his guest to make sure they are enjoying themselves and their drinks. He has even given me samples of coffee to help me find the right one! And he is very knowledge on the subject of all things coffee. He is always improving the store whenever inspiration strikes him. He just added a wonderful mural to the shop with the help of a local small time artist. They created a beautiful piece on different coffee producers from around the world. Not only is Teddy the owner great but so is his staff. I have had the pleasure of being served by Savanna and Kadreona! Savanna is such a kind presence. She cares about all her customers and makes sure she can give you the best drink possible. She has taken time to explain different drinks to me as I am a novice on the subject. It was so helpful and appreciated. She helped me learn differences without ever feeling like it was a dumb question. She had checked on me while she went around cleaning tables. I appreciated her service so much. I have also been taken care of by Kadreona who is also fantastic. She took the time to check on me and even build a rapport. She even gave me great advice for my plants! So many shops make you feel like you are just another customer. But not at Ahdua! You aren't a customer but a welcome guest. I will continue to give this coffee shop my business and I suggest you do the same! I have yet to have a bad drink or experience. This is a 10 out of 5 stars kind of place. Thank you (Ahadu) Teddy, Savanna, and Kadreona! I...

Amazing guy! Talked to him a good bit and found out a lot of good information about his coffee beans and background of the coffee shop. He’s friendly and genuine. I just flew in from Japan where coffee is amazing in some places over there. I stumbled upon AHADU COFFEE SHOP because I was headed to T-Mobile to get my phone activated and the store wasn’t gonna open till 10. So I said look there’s a coffee shop . Let me give it a try. My very impression as I stepped in the coffee shop was like I was stepping inside my home. Place is neat organized and comfortable. I was greeted by the owner as I believe it to be. I got their AHADU SPECIAL and couldn’t be happier with that choice. It’s got amazing flavor with the right amount of sweetness. Foam was perfect and the best part of the drink is that instead of a leaf or heart drawing people normally do. He spelled out number 1 in his ETHIOPIAN WRITING. Which in my opinion was amazingly clever. I mean Ethiopia is where coffee beans where one of the first places to have them or if not it was the first place anyone discovered about beans. They are also working on opening a drive thru. So stay tuned for that. I gave it a 5 star because every aspect of what I consider or looking for in a coffee shop was just completed in AHADU COFFEE SHOP. I will be back soon as like I said. It feels like home. Bottoms up everyone! Stay...

Love the Coffee!! The Sidamo is my favorite roast- it’s a pure coffee taste without the acidity/citrus note in the flavor. Just a pure coffee bean flavor. If you like hazelnut- I highly recommend the Ahadu Special- their signature drink! (It’s addictive!) The best kept secret in Lees Summit - it is not loud / boisterous, plenty of parking (try parking at Messenger) and the owner knows his beans about the beans!

If you like Chai- they have an apple pie chai that is sensational! They also have smoothies, Italian sodas, Hot Cocoa, bottled sodas, and various tea. They are known for their crepes (I recommend the Turkey Pesto with Sundried Tomato) and Paninis. They even have coffee flavors in rolled ice cream! (And it’s creamy & delicious!)

They will have paint night sessions on Friday nights this summer, and a drive thru window is being built now. If you commute, you will be able to easily slip in at the light (they are across from St Luke’s behind Applebee’s), go thru the drive thru, and get back out on Douglas closer to the highway than having to go all the way down to the chain coffee place and more stop lights. Local shop, and no others like it- that’s why I love...

I had the Ahadu special (espresso, steamed half and half, vanilla, caramel, and almond) and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Normally I add milk/syrup to my coffee to overwhelm the bitterness. Here they add things to bring out the flavor of the coffee. The scone I had was also fantastic, and the staff was really friendly. Update: visit 2 I tried their crêpes. They were also fantastic, certainly better than Chez Elle, if not as wide a selection. The ham and pesto was an amazing explosion of flavors. My wife still loves their hot chocolate, and my kids still love their smoothies. The staff interacted with us and our boys, and it was a genuinely wonderful time. If there was one thing I would change it would be having some small cups and ice water out where we could just go grab one. Update 2: it's been a couple years, and Ahadu has only gotten better. I've done painting nights, had ice cream, and used their new drive-thru. Teddy even has a fancy roasting machine now. This is still the best coffee place in the metro.

This place is truly a hidden gem. It's located right beside the movie theater and they are currently working on opening their drive thru for even more convenience! I went on a Friday so I could try the crepes. (I believe the crepes are served just on Friday and Saturday.) They are very tasty and filling. We had a banana, strawberry chocolate crepe and a chicken and egg crepe. I assumed I would like the sweet crepe the most, and it is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved the chicken and egg crepe. I also ordered the Ahadu special espresso drink and we also tried a chai latte. Both were really good. The owner had me try their apple pie chai and it is amazing! It is a regular drink and not just seasonal. I highly recommend trying this local small business. Great coffee and food plus the owner is super friendly.

Ahadu Coffee is a hidden gem in Lees Summit that serves up much more than just your average cup of joe. The Ahadu Special is a must-try for any coffee enthusiast. Expertly brewed, it offers a perfect balance of flavors that awaken the senses. The Ham and Pesto Crepe was equally exceptional—light, flavorful, and filled with quality ingredients that melded together in a delicious harmony. Service-wise, things were a little on the slow side, but the staff more than made up for it with their friendly demeanor and genuine care for your dining experience. They truly wanted to ensure you enjoyed your order, which added a personal touch that's hard to find these days. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make it a point to visit Ahadu Coffee. Your taste buds will thank you.
