If I could give Ahadu more than 5 stars I would. This is such a special place! The owner Teddy really cares about his customers and trying to make each experience special. He goes above and beyond as an owner. He will check in with his guest to make sure they are enjoying themselves and their drinks. He has even given me samples of coffee to help me find the right one! And he is very knowledge on the subject of all things coffee. He is always improving the store whenever inspiration strikes him. He just added a wonderful mural to the shop with the help of a local small time artist. They created a beautiful piece on different coffee producers from around the world. Not only is Teddy the owner great but so is his staff. I have had the pleasure of being served by Savanna and Kadreona! Savanna is such a kind presence. She cares about all her customers and makes sure she can give you the best drink possible. She has taken time to explain different drinks to me as I am a novice on the subject. It was so helpful and appreciated. She helped me learn differences without ever feeling like it was a dumb question. She had checked on me while she went around cleaning tables. I appreciated her service so much. I have also been taken care of by Kadreona who is also fantastic. She took the time to check on me and even build a rapport. She even gave me great advice for my plants! So many shops make you feel like you are just another customer. But not at Ahdua! You aren't a customer but a welcome guest. I will continue to give this coffee shop my business and I suggest you do the same! I have yet to have a bad drink or experience. This is a 10 out of 5 stars kind of place. Thank you (Ahadu) Teddy, Savanna, and Kadreona! I...
Read moreAmazing guy! Talked to him a good bit and found out a lot of good information about his coffee beans and background of the coffee shop. He’s friendly and genuine. I just flew in from Japan where coffee is amazing in some places over there. I stumbled upon AHADU COFFEE SHOP because I was headed to T-Mobile to get my phone activated and the store wasn’t gonna open till 10. So I said look there’s a coffee shop . Let me give it a try. My very impression as I stepped in the coffee shop was like I was stepping inside my home. Place is neat organized and comfortable. I was greeted by the owner as I believe it to be. I got their AHADU SPECIAL and couldn’t be happier with that choice. It’s got amazing flavor with the right amount of sweetness. Foam was perfect and the best part of the drink is that instead of a leaf or heart drawing people normally do. He spelled out number 1 in his ETHIOPIAN WRITING. Which in my opinion was amazingly clever. I mean Ethiopia is where coffee beans where one of the first places to have them or if not it was the first place anyone discovered about beans. They are also working on opening a drive thru. So stay tuned for that. I gave it a 5 star because every aspect of what I consider or looking for in a coffee shop was just completed in AHADU COFFEE SHOP. I will be back soon as like I said. It feels like home. Bottoms up everyone! Stay...
Read moreLove the Coffee!! The Sidamo is my favorite roast- it’s a pure coffee taste without the acidity/citrus note in the flavor. Just a pure coffee bean flavor. If you like hazelnut- I highly recommend the Ahadu Special- their signature drink! (It’s addictive!) The best kept secret in Lees Summit - it is not loud / boisterous, plenty of parking (try parking at Messenger) and the owner knows his beans about the beans!
If you like Chai- they have an apple pie chai that is sensational! They also have smoothies, Italian sodas, Hot Cocoa, bottled sodas, and various tea. They are known for their crepes (I recommend the Turkey Pesto with Sundried Tomato) and Paninis. They even have coffee flavors in rolled ice cream! (And it’s creamy & delicious!)
They will have paint night sessions on Friday nights this summer, and a drive thru window is being built now. If you commute, you will be able to easily slip in at the light (they are across from St Luke’s behind Applebee’s), go thru the drive thru, and get back out on Douglas closer to the highway than having to go all the way down to the chain coffee place and more stop lights. Local shop, and no others like it- that’s why I love...
