Betty Rae's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Lee's Summit

What a shame. Betty Rae's OG is great. But this location in a grocery store is not it. Got 2 pints in the freezer section. Butter pecan and cookies and cream. The butter pecan had clearly melted completely and refroze. All the pecans were clumped on the bottom and the ice cream had good flavor but was clearly broken cuz it was grainy texture. BR is known for the smooth and creamy and this was so so sad. The cookies and cream was the same grainy texture like the base was broken or freezer burnt. Too many new ice cream places in town to pay for this. Nope. Here's the question... Was the problem in the production of the ice cream or was the problem in the care/storage of the product. Lee's Summit needed this in the worst way. Betty Rae's has unique, fun flavors that catapult it ahead of every other place in town. The staff was friendly and attentive, offering us samples of all the flavors we wanted to try.

The most fun flavor is Cereal Milk and it tastes exactly like what you would expect. We also really enjoyed the Brown Butter and Toasted Pecans, Salted Caramel, Razz and Blue, and Thou Mayest Coffee.

The clear winner, though, is the Gooey Butter Cake. It is rich and creamy with the most perfect pieces of cake mixed in.

You really can't go wrong with great ice cream and great service. I'm so glad Betty Rae's made it to...

I was really excited to try the new location in Lee’s Summit, but unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The employee working there seemed visibly upset that it was busy and was moving extremely slowly—almost like it was on purpose. She kept glaring at the line with such frustration that I ended up leaving without even ordering. On top of that, the location itself is inside a grocery store with no space to sit or enjoy your ice cream. Definitely not what I expected. I hope things improve because I was really looking...
