Carmen's Cantina — Restaurant in Lee's Summit

Disgusting experience.

Our family was told to sit "wherever". We waited 10 minutes for our watered down salsa and stale clearly not fresh chips. We still didn't have a menu and our drink order had not been taken.

We got a waitress's attention and our drink orders were taken and we had to ask for our menus (waitress was not friendly at all). I was frustrated with the bad service but wanted to give this place a chance because we ate here a few times when it was el maguey and never had a bad experience.

Drinks arrived and the waitress spilled water on the table and my lap and legs ... sigh. No apology and no napkins to wipe the table or my legs. Still no menus.

Finally after 20 minutes and numerous requests our menus arrived. We ordered and our food was served in minutes. My tacos looked very unappealing, mostly lettuce. I picked up a taco and felt a piece of frozen beef, gross. My wife's meal also had frozen beef and we suspect her rice was microwaved, it was barely warm.

We told the waitress about our frozen beef and she rolled her eyes and said she would talk to the manager. The waitress was in view and talking and LAUGHING to who we assumed was a manager but could of just been a cook No manager came so we left.

Thanks for a ruined family meal. We had two children under 3 and it's scary to think of them consuming UNCOOKED FOOD. This is my first review of any restaurant. The service was horrible and the food was DANGEROUS. We will never return to this restaurant and telling our friends of our...

My mother went in on her birthday 11/05. had a large margarita tower and a few entrees. There was an older gentleman, grey haired serving some tables. He stared at the table the whole time and made us very uncomfortable. Every time he walked past the table he would just stare, even doing other tasks around the dining area , he was always watching the table. We were very uncomfortable but didn’t say anything as we did not want to ruin her birthday meal. We stood to leave , and I took my mother outside, as she was slightly tipsy from the margarita tower, and my sister stayed in up front at the counter next to the to go area to PAY the WHOLE tab. The grey haired guy , WHO WAS NOT EVEN OUR SERVER , proceeds to scream “STOP THEM STOP THEM” , even though it was all one check and my sister was still standing at the counter attempting to pay the over 100 dollar tab , card in hand. We have been going to this restaurant regularly for the last 15 years through all the different ownerships we have never had such poor service. We never got our cheese dip we ordered. My wife’s food came out 20 min after the rest of the tables which I understand mistakes happen but with only 4 other tables full in the restaurant I would think they could handle a order. They still charged full price even after her food came out so late she just put it in a to go box. We won’t be back. I’m not the type of person to bring up a problem and dispute what I'm billed I pay it and don’t do business there anymore, I run a business and would never consider charging for one of my services if it was sub par I figure writing it off now will be better long term than loosing a customer.
