My wife has begged me to eat at this Chinese buffet for almost a year now and I denied and came up with excuses why we can not go BUT today at the hyvee next door o caved and so āokay we will try it but if itās nasty I get to say told you soā Well we ate there for lunch when they opened it was literally the BEST Chinese buffet Iāve ever had in my life. Every single food item was fresh hot and packed with amazing flavor! The owner was an amazing sweet lady who you could tell takes her establishment very serious & her food quality even more serious! Very very clean! Buffet price was well priced and even cheaper for our kiddos! This food was so amazing my wife asked me to go create a ābox to goā so thatās what I did this even & this is why I didnāt get them a all around the house 5 star review.
They have a sign that reads $6.95 for a buffet to go ānot to exceed 1.5lbsā mine came to $17.95 (which is more money then if I wouldāve just stayed and ate at the buffet) when I asked the worker why she was now honoring the sign they have up she told me āwe donāt really donāt that anymore, so we charged you buffet and add a couple dollarsā
You can only imagine my inner rage when she said that to me!
Iām making this review in hopes of getting the sweet owners attention so she can further explain why I was charged and treated that way after coming back for a 2nd time in 1 day after finally giving her establishment a try & voicing to her how AMAING her food was!! Itās literally the best Iāve ever had and am disappointed I didnāt listen to my wife sooner but this evening rubbed me to wrong way.
Long story short for the viewers wondering is this place good? The answer is YES, worth every penny. Flavor and freshness is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the Dragon J for dinner last night and was very disappointed in the restaurant. I would like to start off with the thing I liked. The kids prices were actually tailored to about how much the kid may eat and is fairly priced for the kids. Adults however, had to pay about 15$ each for the very poor selection in the two meager tables of food. We got there, the place was small and maybe half full. The kitchen would be very slow to get the food buckets full, and when they would put it out finally, there would be a dash to get the good stuff before it was gone. They had 3 kinds of shrimp there but it was all either par or worse. Everything that you got up there was dry and over cooked by the heat lamps or in the cooking process. The foods slow arrival was also accompanied by small portions. It seemed like they only brought out 1-2 plates worth of food at a time. They had the pans covered with plastic wrap and they would put the food on top of that and it all just kinda sunk down in the middle and looked like a 1/4 portion. The ice cream was a good selection.... but the station where the ice cream scoop was kept, was disgusting at best. One scooper sitting in water that looked like used toilet water. For the 4 of is to eat, it was 43$. This was way too much for such subpar food. Kansas City has much better buffets for the same price or cheaper and they have a much much larger selection. In conclusion, the china dragon J Chinese buffet if easily passed up as an option for eating on any night. I think I will be choosing cheese and crackers instead of wasting gas to try and choke down this garbage bin again. Easily 0-1...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest American Chinese food.
I grew up eating here foand it was always my favorite. I moved away about 10 years ago to my delight every time I come back to visit friends and family its just as good as I remember. I am yet to find an American style Chinese restaurant that even comes close.
Me and my best friend have (most likely) gotten food poisoning from here and still go back with joy and excitement. If that's not a 5-star plate of food I don't know what is.
My favorites that keep me coming back: Italian chicken mixed with peanut chicken and white rice. Black pepper beef, crab ragoon, egg drop soup, chicken on a stick and also the banana...
