On August 10, 2023, my wife and I decided to go to Chipotle for dinner. We hadn't eaten at Chipotle in about a year. We went inside and to our shocking amazement, they were not preparing food for walk in customers. They were only preparing food for Online Orders Only! They said it was due to lack of help. Needless to say, I was pissed! This isn't the first time we have walked away hungry, the last time they had no guacamole! We left without eating. To sum up, we will never return! Good luck if you decide to try your luck! Update: 12/28/24. Here we go again! Don't know why we went there. Waited in line to order dine in. When we got to the counter to order, we were told that there was no pico, mild salsa. Not good, my wife likes their pico, mild salsa. After ordering and moving down the line, we were told there were no chips!!! WHAT? Then they said they could come up with some chips. After sitting down to eat, we opened the chip bag. They looked like they had been sprayed with WD-40. We have eaten a lot of Mexican food over the years and have NEVER seen chips so oily greasy!!! Check out the pic. Could have lubed my car with the excessive oil in the bottom of the bag. What a disappointment. There were no trash cans to throw away our trash. Another disappointing visit to Chipotle. Take my advice, go to Taco Bell. They aren't the best but they always have what you want. Update: 5/25/25. Not sure why we keep going back. Probably because we know how good they used to be. This visit they had no Smoked Tobasco! The chips were not crisp like they had been sitting out for hours, no forks or spoons set out, the can where the plastic knives are kept had Coke or tea in the bottom of it and the men's restroom appeared that it has not been cleaned for quite some time. Nasty!This is really sad. Very disappointing! FINAL UPDATE: 10/27/25, After being abused by the Manager in training at the cash register, we will absolutely not be returning. We have eaten at this Chipotle since it was built. Never have we been treated so disrespectfully, anywhere! We are not big eaters and have always ordered 2 soft tacos, 1 per person. We always ask the person preparing our tacos if they could put each taco in a separate bowl, in effort to keep from getting our food on the table as we eat them with a knife and fork. We also order a large bag of chips and guacamole with a mild, medium and corn salsa. This has been the same thing we have ordered since they opened, years! On 10/27/25, we were confronted at the cash register by the Manager in training. She began by saying that my taco was too big and that I should be charged for a bowl. I did not want to get the girl in trouble who made the taco, but she treated me like I made the taco myself. She then began telling us that we did not spend enough money to get 3 salsas. She said the company frowns on that. She could have used a nicer tone and chosen her words more wisely. This caused a very uncomfortable situation as my wife and the Manager in training began arguing at the cash register. I had the barbacoa and had to spit out 5 bites that I could not chew! Gross! This will absolutely be our final visit. Chipotle has drastically gone downhill regarding their food quality and now abused by the Manager in training, it's a no brainer, I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere! NEVER AGAIN CHIPOTLE!!! Update: 10/29/25, Just went to Taco Via, friendly staff and all the taco sauce I want without humiliation! Great food! Taco Bell will also let you have all the sauce you want without humiliation! Read moreIt saddens me because Chipotle was my favorite veggie meal, but after this experience I don’t think I will be going to this or any chipotle. On Tuesday April 11, 2023 I put in an order for my usual veggie bowl with guac. I went to pick it up like normal, came home as I work remotely from home to enjoy my veggie bowl. Mixed my guac and into my rice. Almost a third the way through, I take a bite into something that doesn’t feel like a normal vegetable. I take it out of my mouth to which appears to be a reddish bug in the roach family. Don’t know if I ate part of it and I don’t want to think about it, but any appetite I had went straight out the window. I tried calling the store. Everything was automated. I finally got a hold of someone in customer care hotline and she giggled at my story like it was amusing that I might have chewed on one of the dirtiest bugs there is. Then she proceeded to explain she could give me a free meal on the them for my experience, as to which I explained I probably wouldn’t be eating at any chipotle from here on out. So she said she would refund me. Ok, that’s fine but that doesn’t help anyone in this store know that their customer just experienced this. I went to the store because I wanted to know they cared and they were gonna do everything they could so this wouldn’t happen again. The shift manager seemed concerned, took my name, number and took a picture of my picture of said bug and assured me she would let her boss know and he would call me and reach out. Well it is Saturday and I know they’ve heard about it but nobody has called me, left a message, nothing. I eat Chipotle frequently. But this experience just turned me off completely. Read moreI am actually so sick of Chipotle as a whole, the entire company has gone severely downhill in recent years. No matter what location you go to, portions are pathetic and employees are rude.
I drove out of my way to come to this Lee's Summit location because of how bad the Independence location has gotten. The last straw at Independence was on Friday when I placed a mobile order I drove all the way home and discovered they only put a half portion of queso in my large queso cup?? And it was full of chunks of meat (i don't eat meat, it makes me sick). So I drove all the way back up there to get a new cup of queso with the correct portion size and a refund for their mistake and my wasted time driving back and forth, and the manager would not take any responsibility for their mistake and would only give me a new cup of queso OR a refund, not both.
So I placed a mobile order here tonight for a LARGE chips and queso because I'm sick and tired of the Independence location. The queso was fine, but the amount of chips in the "large" chip bag was laughable, there was literally a single small handful of chips in there. I have like 60% of my queso left after eating all the chips that were in the bag i got. And yes the bag was labeled as a "large" chip bag.
I'm not even going to waste my time driving back up to get compensated and get the correct chip size. It'll be a waste of time and money to do so, because I'll have to choose between a refund or getting my order right, not both (like any other place with basic service...
